New Jeep pickup

It's gotten worse since they started using a different formula, that works at lower temperature. While we complain about it though, people like being able to cruise down the road at too fast mph the day after a big snowstorm. I also believe that manufacturers are getting better with implementing rust prevention into their cars; 20 years ago we wouldn't be talking about 15 YO cars because they'd be in the junkyard.

Lots of truth there, sometimes the people still end up off the road because they think AWD will keep them safe. :D What kills me on the rust is the frames go away but if you don't look underneath you would never know because everything you can see from above looks great. Until the wheel wells rot of course.

Actually, that was the point I was making. The Toyota frame replacement is and probably has been a subject for it's own thread. In my opinion it was part warranty and part PR; but I'm just envious-no, I'm jealous because I have a 2004 Ranger with 106K miles which would be in the junkyard because of the frame, if I hadn't parked it for the last two winters.

What's funny is that the frames were made by DANA corp, not Toyota. Can someone remind me who makes the axles for Jeep?

Toyoter is not what it once was. The 80's pickups like Marty mcfly had were no nonsense machines. I had a 2009 Tacoma 4x4 extended cab, meh. It was ok.

I'm not sure what your point is. There are a lot more parts than the rears that go into a vehicle.

I was out working in the garden last night when I heard a ratty old pickup coming up the road with a bad exhaust. When I saw it though, it turned out I was mistaken. It was a newer 3500 Chevy 4 door with a loud exhaust, all jacked up and polished; the kind of truck whose owner expects me to pull into the bushes when on a woods road, so that he doesn't scratch his. I guess that I'm betting old.

Our government has basically made them illegal to produce. Back then there were very few safety features. But that made for a great cheap truck that could be modified to go almost anywhere off road.
