Good morning!!!!

68 degrees this morning, going for a high of 89. I have a weird (to me, at least) eye problem, and wonder if anyone else has had anything like it. A little background: nearly 7 years ago, an optometrist sent me to an ophthalmologist (#1)and I had cataract surgery first on one eye, then a month later on the other eye. Then he sent me to another ophthalmologist (#2) who did retina surgery first on one eye, then a month later on the other eye. Then a little more than 3 years ago, I had strabismus surgery on my right eye by a third ophthalmologist (#3) to whom I was sent by #2. Then, last August, my vision had gotten bad in my right eye, so it was back to #2 who sent me to #1 who did laser surgery on the right eye that fixed that problem, but brought back the strabismus. Ophthalmologist #3 gave me some eye exercises to do that fixed it this time (we had tried those before he did the surgery 3 years ago and they didn't work then). Now the last 2 or 3 months I've had a problem that I've taken a lot of time to try to narrow down the cause. I finally realized that when I have a problem reading something (which is most of the time), I can cover (or just close) my right eye and read it with my left eye just fine. On the other hand, if I cover my left eye, and look at something with just my right eye, sometimes some letters are missing, power lines show some weird shapes, an Amsler Grid shows wavy lines, etc. So yesterday, it was back to #1 and after a number of tests, he said I have swelling in the back of my right eye, and he made an appointment for me to see #2 tomorrow.

I know/understand the reasons/benefits of specialization, but it can sure be difficult to understand which doctor to go to and when. But when I mentioned that to #1 yesterday, he said that I was right in coming to him, AND they made an appointment for me to come back to see him again in 6 months.

Good news today! Hope I'm not getting to be a hypochondriac. I was afraid I might have the beginning of macular degeneration. But the doctor, this morning, had some dye injected in my veins, then made pictures of my eye balls, etc. Then he said "no macular degeneration". He just prescribed a couple of eye drops to use twice a day, and come back to see him in 5 weeks. He thinks that will clear up the problem.

Great news, Bird. We watched my Wife's grandmother go through MD to the point of being functionally blind. No fun.

Network is down this morning (using phone as hotspot to post this)... "external network outage, no ETR" was short message back.. hoping it gets sorted out soon, I have a number of phone conferences (done via Skype) for work today. Lots of email traffic too.

Lawn is growing fast, really enjoy mowing with the zt, need to get some more gas though.. Lots of projects pending.

Can you get a section of pipe to the hole from the outside, pour from outside?

Excellent idea! I will have to see if I can do that. Kind of wiped out from my road trip, at least I beat the thunderstorms.

Thanks! I think that may do the trick.

I also upped the ante, I bought fresh strawberries. LOL.

That's good news!

I have been on the cusp of blindness. Currently I see two specialists up in Baltimore. One for retina work, the other for glaucoma work.

I had a retinal hemorrhage a long while back, initial diagnosis was start of macular degeneration. We went and got more opinions.

Since it was a hemorrhage, as I "healed" I totally lost vision. The blood was dissipating in my field of view. It took about two months before I was back to sight. Then the fun really started. Cataracts and retina detachments.

I see someone every six months now, and I changed my line of work. Lifestyle, not so much. Attitude, still as bad as ever.

You don't know how dark it is unless your blind. One still can pick up light when your eyes are closed.

It's a dark world. Take care of you eyes!

I am glad it is working out for the better!!

Can you reach the hole with a PVC pipe? If so ease a PVC pipe into the hole and drop a bunch of chlorine pellets down and then add a little bit of water to get the pellets going.

I am going to try the pipe treats! Thanks for the idea!!!!

54 outside this AM. Mid eighties today. Road trip for beadboard and bbq on order.
I also am still having issues with a groundhog under my pool house. Seems it moved the traps out of the way. May have to try poison. Not fond of doing that. Cannot get under house for bombs and guns are out of the question due to location.
Hope all have a great day. Be safe and good fortunes to all.

Take a rag and dump a half pint of gas on it and shove it way down the hole, cover the hole with dirt and in a few days you will smell your groundhog. Do not light the gas on fire the fumes do the work. Been doing that for years and it works. Ed

Got the rest of the story after I posted this. Ed

Well, the tractor is home, and I should be bringing the Woodmaxx 8H chipper home tomorrow (if it's delivered as scheduled).
Looks like I've got my weekend plans already!

snow pea production is definitely down due to cloudy days we've been having. Fog burned off, got to high 80's today, with
thunderstorms tonight and another half inch of rain predicted. Met my striped friend on the way back from the garden, he wanted no part of me.
Hopefully he will eat the bunny rabbit who ventures in, that's it, I need an attack snake. Well, not for humans...
Spent the morning helping the helpers put down crusher run gravel underneath equipment sheds, where tractors and mowers were sitting on dirt/mud.
No longer, surprising how fast ten tons of stone disappears.
Then this afternoon went and sold my Jaguar, put the check in the bank, happily took the car off the insurance policy, and almost didn't mind taking my lumps.
Almost.

Pulled a couple of big weeds out of the potato patch and this little cutie literally fell on my foot.
First potato!

Good morning, about 12 hours late, even though I got up before 4am.

Bird, good news about your eye, and glad your healed, rip.

PJ, I bet you and your wife are very proud of the changes you are making at your place.

Don, great job getting down to 162.

Amazing tank art, Rick...thanks for sharing.

I bought a zero turn yesterday (to be delivered tomorrow), then came home to finish up my mowing on my 14 year old rider, and was shown who's boss...after cutting some of the yard on a half full tank, I drove it over to the shed for a fill up...and zonk...it would not restart. Still had the front yard to do. Messed with it a bit, but was out of time. So after roasting coffee early this morning, went out to trouble shoot. Battery was good, so traced wires to starter...sure enough one had broken off the connector...or the mower had spit it out in spite. Crimped a new one and finished the mowing and sting trimmer work.

Then took some time on our porch...unfortunately it wasn't relaxing time, but clean up time, lots of pollen and maple seeds on the front porch and the side screen porch. Moved furniture, swept, vacuumed with the shop vac, then pressure washed. Wasn't totally dry before the storm started threatening, so moved some stuff back to the porch, some into the house, and put the tools away...9 seconds before the storm hit. We needed it.

I sure hate to mow the yard more often than once a week, but my yard is already in dire need of mowing, and I mowed 5 days ago. But I guess I better do that tomorrow at least.

Guy from the pool company came to hunt for the leak in the pool. Found one hole about the size of the smallest needle. He says I don't think that is all of the problem, we lost over 12000 gal. Put a little more water in it and mark it and see how much it leaks and call me again. Ed
