What do you guys use for engine oil in your kubota diesel? any of you use Synthetic oil?

I use regular(non-synthetic) Kubota motor oil. I don't use synthetic because the dealer said it was unnecessary. I change motor oil & filter every year so synthetic would be a wasted expense also. You will hear that a lot of folks like Rotella - its a Shell product.

If it is under warranty. Use Kubota oil and filters plus keep the receipts .

Good advice. I have a new Ram pickup and I wouldn't think of using anything but OEM maintenance items. Once out of warranty, it'll get T6 though.

If it meets the API specs it’s ok by Federal law. There’s many more Diesel engines out working with Rotella in them than Kubota oil. But whatever your comfortable with is cool with me

Heck one of the few approved oils for my Ram is T6 5w-40

to the op
you live in indiana...it gets cold go w/synthetic for cold starting properties alone
as mentioned, t6 would be (& is ) my choice

I use Shells Rotella 15W-40 T4 (non-synthetic oil) which meets Kubota's oil class CJ-4 specification and temperature range for my area. What Kubota's Operator's Manual specifies is good enough for me.

Used non-synthetic oil for the last 20 years in my L4200GST and will continue to use the same oil in my new L5060GST which was delivered just today. :) I see no compelling reason to change.

I'm sure if synthetic oil was really that much better for their tractors, Kubota and other manufacturers would would be putting that in their engines and also specifying synthetic oil in the Owners Manual.

To those who say "nothing but synthetic oil", well, it's your money, what ever makes you happy. :dance1:

Rotella T6 5w-40, also gets used i my Cummins powered equipment, T5 10w-30 is also a good, I use it in all my small engines.

Shell Rotella 10W30 conventional oil.
10W30 is the factory fill for Kubota.
Works OK for me up north!

I have used Rotella in my BX1860 for the 6years I lived in Alaska and will use it in my B2301 when I get to the 50 hour mark. Plus its al I've used since 1997 in all my Cummins diesel powered trucks. Its been a good choice for me

When you have a diesel engine screaming at 3000+ rpm, as in the BX series, and it is hot out, and the tractor is working hard, I figure that the higher burn temp of synthetic gives better protection. I have never heard anyone dispute the fact that synthetic lubricates better. Yes, it may be more than the engine really needs, but I still opt for the better protection. My BX needs to be at 3000+ to get any real power, and the slowest idle is still 1400rpm. That is a lot of metal on metal friction. These machines cost big bucks and I don't want to have to replace it because I skimped to save pennies on oil.

Synthetic makes a big difference on start up and that's when most wear occurs. It took me a while but I switched to full synthetic and change every other year if I don't do enough hours. T-6 is great.

Steve Warner said it all. American Petroleum Institute tests and certifies the oil to meet whatever standard that oil will meet.

Not necessarily true.
We are not privy to the business decision making model. Take a tractor, your vehicle, boat, RV etc.
All decisions are made on cost basis analysis. Which is why aftermarket companies are in business. Yeah I know lots of snake oil but also lots of improvements of personalizing our gear and reliability.
Look at how many died before GM addressed the faulty ignition switch or the famous Pinto gas tank. (yeah I know media set up the explosion for drama and ratings)

Diesels do well with regular oil, following a regimented change program.
There are factors different from synthetic.
Light aromatics evaporate quicker leaving the heavier components. Thus oil gets thicker/heavier as mileage/hours piles on.
Synthetics are made from polyalfiofins; meaning molecular structure are consistent in size. Reducing friction, thus friction related heat etc.
The lighter aromatics not subject to as quick evaporation.

So there are many variables and will require one to do their own due diligence.....or not and simply make simple assumptions.......

as usual YMMV ...... T6 for me and Mr. Ylee Kioti...
in fact all but the budget busting 12 gallons of UTF are synthetic. (sorry Amsoil but 38 buck a gallon is over the top for me), UTF does get quality which at this point means a comfort factor of using Kubota, Shell, etc.
Unless the Kubota synthetic UTF is not a wallet breaker i will be using it.

Alrighty lots of ramble to say T-6!:)

What, another conspiracy therory!

We're talking Kubota tractors here, not autos and boats.

Like I said, it's your money, what ever makes YOU happy. And everyone else, we all have our OWN choices. ;)
