64°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 75° today.

We survived the rains yesterday with no water incursions. Wifey was very relieved, as was I.

I'm liking the way the car feels with new tires. I always enjoy this period when bumps are a little softer, there's no wear pull in any direction, and the road noise is greatly diminished.

Eric, there are places here in the US that sell bulk horse hair as well. I did not know it was used in traditional plastering, but it is most certainly still the preferred material for string instrument bows (violins, violas, cellos, etc.).

Yesterdays' dump run got rained out as did todays. It is supposed to be sunny for the next 5 days, so maybe a dump run on Saturday AND start running cables for the security cameras. I have one that needs to be buried as it will be going right across the driveway. I am only going to put it down about a foot.

Actually I do have some weedeating to do today around the garden; weed control inside the electric fenced areas. Would be a lot simpler spraying roundup but I just can't bear
to use that or any weedkiller so close to food I'm going to eat.

.

Drew, glyphosate is systemic and has no soil activity. A straight glyphosate wouldn’t have any affect on food plants unless you sprayed them. Imazapyr is added to some glyphosate product to extend kill. Imazapyr does have soil activity so, shouldn’t be used near food plants. Use a surfactant and spray on a calm day.

As always ..... READ THE LABLE.

And......... THE LABLE IS THE LAW.

67°F and .37 inches rain.

Got mowing caught up yesterday after our 5.0 shaker. We are in a really safe zone in regards to lava flow but that was one of the stronger quakes felt since living here.dogs slept thru it.

Need to replenish diesel, may go to town later for it.

Prayers for all

Be safe
Have a great day

dewberries per Drew's request. See the really thorny vines at the very top right, and bottom right? I had to pull these "protector vines" back to expose the berries.

Prayers for Randy, Sodamo's wife, Rip's wife, and all who need them.

I'm watching some really strong thunderstorms headed this way. I got the 24" tiller out and tilled the weeds, and 2 furrows for 6 watermelon seedlings, and 1 furrow for some more green beans. We had planted 4 packs (different varieties)of green beans and only 1 pack came up, so I planted 2 more packs. Maybe the mushroom dirt was too "hot" for bean seeds. I tilled the soil in again to help mix it up better. My tiller needs the tines sharpened....another chore.

Now we just need some rain to soak them.

PJ, I see those Souls and they look "fun".

RNG, Yamaha must have a dirty carb. I forgot to complain to Rick Perry the other day about getting ethanol (corn squeezins) out of our gasoline.

Have a great day.

NWS says our low this morning was 70; 71 now, and going for a high of 73; about as short a range as we've ever had, I reckon. And they are forecasting an 80% chance of rain again today, so I'll have a valid excuse for not mowing the yard.

And I just now opened the front door and found that it's already raining; very light, but raining.

Well, instead of the temperature going up, it's been gradually going down all morning; currently down to 63 and we're still getting a very light rain. Just about a half inch so far today. But the radar does make it appear that it's moving off to the east very slowly. At least it should all be gone long before the 7 p.m. Rangers baseball game today.

Good afternoon everyone.

I am a little off schedule today. We literally had an unexpected floor show last night as I was serving dinner. Wifey flipped and flopped in her flip-flops and took a tumble. Her collarbone was moving like it should not. We spent the 7 hours in the ER waiting room. Now she is wearing a sling harness. This is not the first time that flip-flops have led to personal injury.:( They are the ultimate gift for the orthopedic care industry:rolleyes::(. I am "ranted out" about appropriate footwear for conditions of use; wifey does not listen why should anyone else? I have assumed some additional duties as the situation requires. I hate vacuuming. I am incapable of seeing dirt and it is "Mud Season." I am not allowed to use the fancy new clothes washer; I can only load and unload the clothes and transported as directed.

That mushroom soup that I made last night melded well overnight in the refrigerator and made for a healthy lunch.

A hazy, misty 65F to start the day; now it is in the mid 70F's and more humid. Storm cells are starting to percolate up. I discovered earlier today that I am less flexible climbing in the pear tree than in years past. I need to pull out a larger ladder this year :(.

David- I love the dog pictures. A picture of absolute contentment. I was curious as to your location. Thanks for sharing. There were all kinds of volcano evacuation routes in CR. It makes one think and put things in perspective as to the scale of things. I hope that there are no "surprises" with this eruption.

Kyle- Our forsythia is just starting to show some color and down in TX you are getting flowering/fruiting squash. Thanks for sharing.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

I hope everyone has a decent day.

They certainly market them that way. I don't know about "fun," but this one has been a very good car to me. It just rolled over 123K miles yesterday, and no mechanical issues yet with it. It's surprisingly roomy inside, and has been more than adequate as a musician's vehicle. I can even fit my upright acoustic bass in it.

My Wife has a '12 Sorento, and had an '04 Sorento before that, and a Sedona minivan and Sephia sedan before that. They seem to make pretty decent vehicles.

J, I hope your wife feels better soon. I always hated busting a flip flop far from home.

Kyle- Thanks for the + wishes. Wifey hides flip-flops all around the house, in suitcases, carryons, and probably has a pair or two hidden in the car and truck. A catastrophic failure of a flip-flop occurs and magically there is another pair on her feet. If she can't find a hoarded pair on a trip it is an immediate detour to a local "flip-flop" store. When we bought this place +30 years ago there was a lone sole of a blown out flip-flop laying in the lower field. I'll bet it is or pieces of it are still there even after repeated mowings.

Wife is feeling sore and inconvenienced and probably looking forward to my supervision

Jay, hope your wife recovers soon. But I do have to chuckle. I do wear shoes when off island but otherwise maybe half dozen times a year. Usually barefoot or in my slippahs unless a serious task requiring sure footing or protection.

Wife just called and cancelled her cortisone shot, asked them to save it for next time The good news being she feels good enough to do so. I know she isn’t pain free, but at a tolerable stage.

Dave- I assumed that there are a few flip-flop wearing posters here which helped me restrain myself about ranting about the inherent risks of wearing flip-flops. I suspect flip-flop and clog making manufacturers are heavily financed by the orthopedic industries. For a person who has no dress shoes I have a wide assortment of task specific footwear appropriate for the anticipated conditions, and I do not own flip-flops.

Sophie's decision to cancel her scheduled cortisone shot takes courage. My highest respects for your wife and you. Good luck.

Ellen drives a Soul, nice and roomy for its size. I drive a Borrego which is s totally different animal, though a KIA also.

JB, I wouldn’t bet on the supervisor part, but I hope she’s better quickly.
