70 this morning and headed to 81 today. I’ll have Ron’s thunderstorms by lunch timeish.

Need a box blade. Thinking 7 foot. Would like hydraulic scarifiers. Needs to run on 50-80hp tractor. Cat 2 is fine. Called John Deere dealer. Can get a frontier 4284 for $3400. Haven’t priced a land pride to compare. Sound reasonable? What do you guys have?

Need something to smooth cow path ruts down. Clean out barn and feed pens. That’s a mix of hay and manure and main reason for the hydraulic scarifiers. Might use it to grade driveway. Then do general dirt work. At 1200 lbs also makes good counter weight.

It’s my morning to take boys to school so better get going. See what else the day brings.

I just crossed 15 hours on the ZD1211 yesterday. So far, I’m very happy with it. I’ve ordered a set of Oregon Gator mulching blades for it. That should improve the cut even more.

I created a new thread about it here if you’re interested.

Thanks. Good thread.

Good morning.
Down here it's been breezy. I found my garbage cans down by the pond this morning. I planted an avocado yesterday. I hope the salt laden wind won't kill it like it did my chestnuts. Last year I planted a bunch of things and only the live oaks, Chinese elms, date palms, and pecans survived. The rest died from salt air wind burns. The leaves just curled up and withered then the plants die. Old timers here told me I can't plant sensitive plants here until I got the live oaks, elms, and pecan to grow enough to create a wind screen and slow the wind down a bit.

Eric,
My brother owns a historic home as well. Some of the rules on these homes are ridiculous. For example, he can't use drywall in the house. It all has to be lath and plaster. Good thing they don't require him to get the old plaster with horse hair. You can't buy that stuff anymore. I feel your pain.

After losing 35 lbs, I started working out again to build my muscles back up. Last night I had significant cramps. Hopefully things will get better today.

My lady bought me some new stretch jeans to replace my old and now way too large jeans. The new stretch jeans are really comfortable!

Farmer2009,
Your box blade likely will be worth more than my old tractor!

Have a great day all.

About 70 out this AM. Shuffling around the next few days moving people to places for graduation events. Wife, frustrated but hanging in there.

Been cutting a lot of grass. I think of diesel when I am on my Z. I usually do a tankful when I am out and about. Plus, I usually wear my shooting ear protection when I am mowing. The tinnitus is already super bad, probably associated to the ruptured ear drums of my previous life. Of course writing about it, I hear it. It's one of those body conditions, I have adjusted too.

Still looking for the beadboard, the porch is still under construction. Hope to finish that in the next few weeks. I need to do some seriously expensive window replacements. Think of a porch just enclosed in glass. It's like another room. Probably easier to open it up rather than replace all the glass. But oh well.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Got to admit I wasn稚 aware of the P23.

There were 2 doctors in the practice that I've used for several years. One of them thinks a single dose is enough and the other thought 2 doses, 5 years apart was better. So I had the PPS V23 on 2/9/2007 and again on 9/10/2013. Then I had the Prevnar 13 on 2/3/2017. I can't even remember the last time I had a cold; much less the flu or pneumonia. Of course I can't say whether that's because I haven't had them, or just because my memory is fading.

Helped daughter yesterday unload the Pod, mostly filled new shed and half of garage. She had really packed it in there. 8x8x16 filled completely takes a bunch more space when not packed so tight. We are already planning on adding the loft to the new shed (planned one for later, but need it now). We finished around 10:30 last night. They are hoping to close on 5 acres next week.

It was 34* this morning, yesterday was in the mid 40's with a mix of rain and snow most of the day. Looks like today will be in the mid 50's and sunny, with the wind about 15 mph.

I got the last 4 burn piles started yesterday. The guy that cleared the ground didn't separate the brush from the dirt and rocks. But it looks like most of it burned. I'll see what the neighbor wants to do when he gets back in June.

We are making the weekly trip to town today, not sure what I'll get done this afternoon.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

With this being classed as a "historic" building, I have a planning condition that prohibits me from using power tools to cut out old mortar before repointing. In most places the mortar is missing anyway, so it's no real hardship to cut back odd places with a hammer and chisel, it's only the places where someone had a go at patching it up with cement instead of lime that it gets tricky to take out without damaging brickwork. I doubt the woodpeckers will be jealous at hearing the painfully slow rate of my hammer blows.

What in the world were "they" thinking when they came up with that rule, Eric? I would think "they" would encourage people to maintain old buildings in every way they could, and encumbering workers with hand tools only doesn't encourage the work to be done, and puts costs into the stratosphere if the work has to be hired out. Perhaps they'd rather see the buildings fall to rubble, then sink into the ground?:confused2:

My La Crosse WS has not been reading rain amount correctly. I removed the top collector from the rain and wind sensor. While there was nothing in the collector. The little spoon like sensor under collector had collected a lot of dust. That turned to mud when it rained. After cleaning rain amounts agree with my Stratus rain gauge.
Randy or others that purchased the one sold at Sams Club may want to check theirs.

PJ, the one thing I don't like about hydro static tractors is that the transmission whine sounds like an amplified version of my tinnitus. I suspect my early rifle shooting days without ear defenders may be the biggest cause. Whenever tinnitus gets us both down, at least we can think back to some of the good times we had while our ears were getting wrecked.

The older I get, the less I care about what people are saying. As far as music goes, so far I can just turn it up a little more, but that just starts a vicious cycle, destroying even more of my hearing. But at some point I'll probably end up in some old folks home with another poor soul that shakes the windows with his snoring; so much the better for sleeping if my hearing's gotten to the point I don't need ear plugs!

I’ve not had so much as a cold since I retired. Perhaps that I’m not making 1-2 round trips to SE Asia per month in long, silver, germ laden, jet powered, tubes?

I also get my flu shot annually.

66ーF and rain this morning, going up to 75ー today. Storms rolled through about 5:15. Lots of lightning and some big rain drops, but didn稚 last to long.

Contractor got the retaining walls up and back filled yesterday before they left, alleviating some of our concern about the rain today.

Sitting at the Kia dealer this morning while they re-tire my Soul and address a couple of minor recall items. I think this might be the first time I致e posted here from my iThingie. Haven稚 figured out yet how to add pics.

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 7:00AM. Sunny. High 77F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

I always get a flu shot, but still sometimes get a cold, especially around the holidays when sick people show up at the various gatherings.:muttering: When I was working, I was around people everyday and I think my resistance was higher because of it. Now it seems I get everything I'm exposed to...

Off to the annual gathering of the 4WD Vanagon folks. Truck camping, but at least I'll have a chance to see what people are doing on the inside of their vans to make them more useful. I've also got a few things to check on the chassis/suspension to see how to protect the underside from rocks and such. No internet service at the campsite, so don't send out the search parties if you don't hear much from me over the weekend.

Hope everyone has a good one!

I have the same results with sickness since I retired. Most of the colds, sinus infections and similar sickness have disappeared. My sinus and cold problems were from motel rooms. I still get sick. But it is mild stuff. 4 times with pneumonia is more than enough for me.

Good morning everyone.

"Drew, be careful. The authorities will not come take him somewhere and give him 3 hots and a cot unless he breaks the law bad enough to go to jail. That is about the only way they can do anything to him unfortunately. Always re-active instead of proactive. The authorities don't have or don't like to spend money on crazy people. That's why we see so many in the streets homeless. I have a suspicion he is one of the major reasons the previous owners moved. If I knew that he had waved guns around at people, I would call the law at any/every mis-step and wouldn't go outside unarmed. If I knew he had a rifle, I would, well, I don't know what exactly I'd do, but most of my awake thoughts would be concerning it. Hopefully there aren't children around."- Kyle

Kyle- Well posted. I agree.

Brogen because of his inability to open his jaws seems to have difficulty cooling off so I am walking him earlier and more often during the cooler parts of the day.

Temperature was in the low and humid 60ºF's with todays' 5:30AM walk = shorts weather today already. I have a lot of yard work, fruit tree pruning, wood and rock moving to do. And it is already sweating weather with temperature in the high 70F’s. (Walk #2). The fruit trees are just starting to show signs of bud swell. This is really late. I guess I’ll be pruning today. Maybe some decent Tstorms here later today.

Yesterday I weeded out Herb Garden #1 to transplant the rosemary and found some overwintered oregano that may survive. The rosemary did not "Winter" well indoors and the transplanted oregano fared far worse. I am surprised that the oregano survived this Winter, but I am not complaining. They now share a common bed. My (perennial) thyme has not yet appeared.

RNG- I hope that you have a great time at the 4WD Vanagon meet up. I hope that you stay well "hydrated." ;) "The older I get, the less I care about what people are saying."- RNG One of the few benefits of aging.;).

I hope those on the mend keep mending, those who are "healthy" stay that way, and that everyone has a decent day today.

My thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

72 degrees this morning, going for a high of 84, and a very light rain just started, with the heavy stuff just west of us and on the way. We're under a severe thunderstorm watch until 2 p.m.; it's just past 10 a.m. now. Of course I hope we don't have high winds and hail, but we're glad to see some rain.

And as with some others of you, my wife and I have gotten the flu shot every year for at least 30 years.

Good Morning All, 78 now going to 88. No idea what the low was. I cut two over grown bushes in front of the house. They were about 10 ft across and now about 3 ft. Got a pu load with it stomped down 3 or 4 times. Took a benadryl last night for the mold dust and pollen in the bushes and slept til 9. Need to mow today and hope to get that done.

Randy glad you are on the mend.

Have a great day. Ed
