I have the RTV 900, but if I had a Honda dealer close by, I would have seriously considered one of their models. I hope you have good luck with yours.

I really like the Hondas, reliability and the transmission, but the locked rear on the 700 would be a no deal for me. I have to make a turn when I go into and out of my shed and I can just imagine the mud hole after a few trips in and out.

That would be a deal killer for me.

Ah, yea. No turning into a shed for me so it was no big deal, lol. After I pay for the new tractor this upcoming Monday and sell 2 of my ATVs, I'll be buying one of these. :D

Which tractor did you get?

A Mahindra 5010 HST Cab Series. Can't wait to pick it up on Monday!
EDIT: I'm getting the loader attachment with it. Shouldn't need it for a whole lot, but I'll have it. I had a small Case loader that I sold.

So, I have my Yamaha Grizzly sold. I'm getting 5k for it.. I think I'm going to be heading back to the Honda dealership on Wednesday since I'm much closer to one now since the move and talk some numbers on the Pioneer 700-2. I'd like to be able to pick one up with the extras that I want for about 11-11.5k in cash.. Hopefully if I can get a 13 model rather than a 14 model, perhaps even a few dollars cheaper. I only have one last purchase to make then (in which my mind is already made up). A new ATV. After my wife's Honda Recon has been as reliable as it has been since we got it 4 years ago.. I'll be purchasing a Honda Rancher 4x4 ES with a few goodies.. For hopefully around 7.5k cash.

I'm very happy with my Pioneer 700-2. 7-ish hours now and most of the smell has burnt off and the transmission doesn't feel quite so tight which is good.

My deal was only $250 off list. I wanted green and all they could get was red so I got them to throw in the green body panels. I also bought the two piece hardened plastic windshield, the floor mat, the bed mat and the roof. Those were all at some discount, I'm not sure how much. I'll add the hard doors and back panel soon though I was out yesterday in 15 degree weather (sunny and no wind) and the windshield and roof made it quite comfortable compared to my ATV.

By the way, my ATV is the same Rancher 4x4 ES you're looking at. I'm not sure I'd buy the ES again, i might prefer the foot shift. The ES is a little harder to get right than I would expect. I remember my Honda QA50 minibike from when I was a kid being much better to shift. Otherwise the Rancher is great, the 4x4 outstanding (for me) and Amsoil 0W-40 MA did make the shifting a little better.

My wife has the Recon ES.. So I'm used to the Electric Shift, haha. I'm using the quad more for play, anyhow.. But I wanted something that could do some work if needed. Like I said, I'm gonna try and get a 13 model so maybe I can get more of a discount. I'm taking a ride over to the dealership tomorrow to talk numbers. I'm bringing cash in hand.. Salesmen talk good numbers when you pull the cash out of your pocket and lay it in front of them.. Especially when you throw down a $100 tip under the table. I've worked at a few dealerships.. Salesmen really do work for their money.. So if they'll help me out, I'll give them a nice cash tip that doesn't get chopped up by the dealership.

Cash certainly talks but I don't think there are any 2013 models of the Pioneer. I just looked and my owner's manual says 2014. Maybe you're talking about the Big Red?

That is my understanding. 2014 is first year for the Pioneer.....hmmmmm That probably means 1000 or so less than they will be in future, but also current purchasers will help them thru any design/construction issues. They are nice enough that I think I will be willing to help them.

How about reviews, thoughts and pictures of new Honda Pioneer ? What was out the door price ? I am looking at buying one after the first of year. Already have one dealer at $ 250 off list and 20% off all accessory. $ 11,600 for Pioneer 4. This over the phone and cash buy.
Anyone put a Big Red unlocking differential in a Pioneer yet ?????

That's a bummer. Was hoping to maybe get a few bucks off for a late sale on a soon to be old model year, haha. I don't follow UTVs all that much.. Just started looking into them a week or two ago.. I never really had much use for them until now.

I'll tell you what it ends up costing me out the door. I'm buying one. I'm going tomorrow (I guess today, technically) to talk numbers and bringing a pocket full of cash to see how that helps it along. I'm hoping to get it for somewhere around $11000-$11250 cash. If all goes well tomorrow.. I'm purchasing and setting up a pick-up time for Friday when I'll be able to make it back down there and get it.

Pioneer 700-2. Final price was $11,349.95 with the goodies I got. For purposes of figuring what I got for my money, these are the "extras" I got:

Winch with the mount bracket, a soft top, side and rear view mirrors, the half windshield, the matching graphics package, rear cab net, bed extender, cargo bag that mounts on the frame, bed and floor mats, storage cover, and a rear bumper.

At a base price of $9,999.99.. I'm going to take a guess and say I got the accessories for about 45-50% discount (those are NOT installed, I will be installing myself). My out the door price was $11,849.99 until I pulled out cash.. Then the price dropped, lol. Hope that gives you at least a general idea. Cheers!

Congratulations! It sounds like you got a very good deal. I'm sure you'll be as happy with it as I am with mine.

If it's like mine it will be a little tight at first. My shifter is moving easier and the transmission doesn't feel quite so tight after putting some hours on it.

I installed my own accessories as well. It was easy.

Good luck with it and please post back with what you think of it.

Thanks for update. All ways good to get accurate pricing info. I think you got a great deal. Post some pictures and let us know how you like it.
Thanks

I've had a Pioneer 4 for a couple of months now. From what I hear, they are selling quite well and Dealers are not having to discount much….plus I hear they have a small margin on this product and are unwilling to cut very deeply.

I have installed quite a few accessories on mine and over-all I am quite happy with this rig for my needs. I have the full (4 place) plastic hardtop, a glass windshield with electric wiper, a 4000 lb winch, and a fabric rear curtain.

I just got my fabric doors for the front and plan to put them on today. I am waiting on a heater from Honda….hopefull pretty soon. Yesterday I pulled my trailer and fish house onto the lake. Drove thru up to about 10 inches of snow…..and it did a fine job.

If your into racing or being the fastest kid on the block….this is not your machine. But, if you want an all-purpose, reliable, multi-purpose machine for farm, hunting, trail riding, in a normal wheelbase vehicle THAT CAN HAUL FOUR ADULT PASSENGERS…..then honda is a good choice. I like mine. Considering a snow plow and chains for next year.

As stated on a previous thread.. I'm just about to purchase a new tractor. That being said, I'm going to need an all purpose UTV for moving stuff. Hay bales, bags of whatever, ducks/chickens/turkeys/geese (wife's pets) when necessary, tree branches, firewood, tools.. You get the picture, haha. I don't plan on having to mill about the woods with it, I have ATVs for that. Strictly for moving stuff and attaching a small trailer to around the property. I don't plan on moving anything over 800-1000 lbs. I have a 10k budget but an extra 2-3k wouldn't make or break the deal. As always, I appreciate any and all responses and send my thanks in advance!

I tried to enter the Farm Utility vehicle set a few years back. 500 acres grain farm and 120 acres pasture / timber. Livestock. family. After shopping and all of the sticker shock, I bought a 20 year old Toyota pickup for $1400. Still use it every day. Heater, windshield, haul & drag, parts availability, go anywhere, bed with tailgate, street legal. Still can't afford a UTV.
