I guess a knot in the rope must be an option for a Farmi. Mine didn't have one. I'm putting one in it after reading what happened to Gordon.

One time I was over a friends place. He had a Wallenstein winch. It had a knot in the rope. I asked him what it was for. He said he wasn't sure but probably so you wouldn't loose the rope down inside. Some how I remembered that little knot and put one in my rope as a marker. Probably what it is really for. You always said Wallenstein's were better SR - guess that proves it...

More desirable features than some, not sure how much better working they are though...

Anyway, you guys are always copying the good stuff!!

What style tie rods does it have? My L3800 has the tie rods stupidly placed in front of the axel. My L3240 had a completely different and much better setup. It痴 neatly tucked behind the axel. You致e probably torn something else off long before you could damage it.

I believe his are in front as well on his L3400. I guess Kubota never figured their owners might take their smaller L series into the woods. The least they could have done was to fabricate guards owners could have just slapped on.

In their defence tractors weren’t made to go in the woods. There’s plenty of other damage points. That being said the front axel tie rods suck.

The tie rods on the Kubota tractors I have seen are ahead of the front axle but well above the front axle. My thinking is if you want a skidder then buy a skidder. If you use a tractor in the woods then don't use it like a skidder and run it thru the slash and over stumps. Keep it on a clear road and keep the roads clear. Or try to be careful and add protection. Even then expect damage. There are to many parts that can't be protected and just aren't rugged enough for forestry use. Tires for instance. Compare standard tractor tires with forestry tires. There is a reason they make forestry tires.

But stuff just happens even just working around the dooryard. That's life.
Just my 2 cents.

Isn't it easier and faster to pick it up and carry it?

That log, at 20 + feet long was too wide for the road and on top of that, it weighed over 3000 pounds...

It was just faster/easier to pull it home...
