Reminds me of one of my favorite Albert Einstein quotes:
"Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves."

PJ that's wonderful.
Am enjoying a very gold Yuengling bottle of beer, after climbing out of the hot tub, which after all I did today was a must.

Got rained out around 2:20 put until then planted peas in the small garden and well over a thousand seedlings in the big garden.
My knees got pretty sore, on my knees for more than three hours. No practice as a Catholic...;)
Ground was soft, damp and nice to work in. Shallots, Red Creole onions and cabbage today. Over 400 cabbage plants.
No shortage of cole slaw around here for awhile.

now intend to do absolutely nothing. Pak Choy tomorrow and more onions.

Raining again, Glad. Was getting the fruit ready for our oatmeal this morning and the strawberries that we get from Costco were frozen together. I tried to get them apart with a table knife and gave up. So I went out to the shop and got a 3/4" wood chisel and a mallet. Worked great, now wife thinks she needs a wood chisel in the kitchen. :) Is this where I say we might be rednecks? :)

My last bike was a slow and low honda VLX Looked sweet and good for just putting around. Don't think I pay good enough attention to ride anymore.:(

Have a great one Ed
Do you cut your big pieces of meat with a chainsaw or sawzall? You might be a redneck. Battery operated DeWalt 20v MAX works REAL well on turkey.

What hair was she going to cut?

I stopped riding to work about three years ago. I used to half joke to my Wife that "someone tries to kill me every day." It was only a half joke, because it was actually true (she hated that, by the way). In spite of all the public awareness about looking for motorcycles, people in general just still don't do it. And rush hour traffic is the worst. Too many people are already rude drivers to begin with, then you throw in the modern distractions of texting and whatever else ... and it's just too dangerous for two wheels in heavy traffic.

I stopped riding to work in 2010 when I retired, and it was another reason I left. Most mornings somebody would do something stupid, didn't matter if i was on the bike or in the truck, and my BP would spike. At least once a week there was an adrenalin moment on the bike where I'd have been badly hurt or killed if I hadn't seen it comin' and taken appropriate action. When I've been in big metro areas since while riding, it's even worse. Many drivers have one eye on their phones, some even use both. Or they're screwing around with the touch panel on the dash. Usta be it was just people reading the paper, putting on lipstick, eating an EggMcMuffin, or shaving, now I'd be surprised if anyone devotes more than half their attention to driving. Then there are those that simply don't care, either asleep in the fast lane, changing lanes without looking, pulling out from side streets without yielding, or, the worst of the worst, turning left in front of me at an intersection. Only way to survive it is to anticipate the worst that could happen and adjust speed and position to give myself as much time and distance to react as possible. For the left turn thing, though, a lot of times it's just slow down, cover both brakes, and hope for the best. So now I try to stay out of cities altogether, and just ride rural roads on long vacation trips. Still dangerous, but nothing like the old commute was.

Just saw this interactive map of the flooding that would have ocurred one year ago today had the Emergency Spillway failed at Oroville Dam. The majority of Oroville would have been GONE, not just flooded. And the flooding would have extended almost all the way to Sacramento. Lots of little towns along highways 70 and 99, the main thorofares north and south through the Valley, would have been badly flooded. The current down below the house here would have been strong enough to wash away buildings. Would have been something to see, but I sure am glad it didn't happen!

Last week is was announced that the Butte County District Attorney has filed suit against the Department of Water Resources for mismanagement of the dam that led to dumping tons and tons of rock and dirt into the Feather River. He's going after them for some fifty-one billion (that's billion with a "B") bux. Not sure how successful they'll be, as it'll be difficult to prove damages anywhere near that. The crazy thing is, where do they think the money is gonna come from if they win? Yep, you got it, the taxpayers!
