Ron, interesting little pump. Pumping 3gpm, four AA batteries aren't going to last very long...definitely needs rechargeables...
I try to only put four gallons in five gallon cans, keeps it around 30 pounds.

Lifting those 5 gallon jugs causes my back to ache. Been thinking of something like this.

Going on seven years ago I purchased a Harbor Freight fuel transfer pump. It runs off the battery in my Diesel truck. Extended the power leads with heavy gauge lamp cord so I could put the pump conveniently close to whatever I needed to fill. Then I made an adaptor to add another three feet of small diameter hose on the suction end, and stick it down into the 38 gallon tank on that same truck. Flip the switch, stick the gas station like nozzle into the tractor or RTV, and in a minute or two the tank's full. It comes out pretty fast and if I don't pay attention I end up with a mess. Then I shut the pump off, reverse the leads on the battery, turn the pump on again and hold the nozzle high while everything in the hose gets pumped back into the truck so the hose doesn't leak all over the place. I wrap the hose into a two foot loop and hang the whole thing on a hook in the pump shed. Definitely one of those Harbor Freight tools that doesn't suck.

RNG, never saw anyone make their own hose clamp before. Can't see how you could get enough compression on that.
But if it doesn't leak, who cares.

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 4:15AM. Sunny. High 73F. Winds N at 10 to 15 mph.

More nice weather, but we sure could use some rain.

Hope your trip goes smoothly, Rip, and the doctors have some good news waiting for you in New York.

I also hope those of you living in the snow take it easy and stay safe.

The package from Germany showed up yesterday, less than a week after the order was placed. That was fast! Unfortunately the new throttle tube isn't machined properly and has to go back. The other parts were OK though, and I can get by using the old part for a while yet. Got the throttle side perch mounted on the handlebars, and while running the cable to the front brake found I was missing one of the fittings to make it work. Guess that'll have to go into this week's order. Also had to call the supplier in Alabama about the missing carb rebuild kit and the two wrong sized nuts in the last order. Those'll also get replaced in the next order, too.

Also sent off photos of the mis-machined brake shoes that wouldn't fit into the drum. Found that out yesterday, too. Spent a good couple of hours taking the shoes on and off to make sure they were on there correctly, and searching unsuccessfully for pictures of how they go, as I'd never seen them assembled before. There was a bit of casting flash on one of the ends of the shoe that was holding it out from the cam, but not enough to account for the error. But it should have been caught before the shoes were arced. Judging by the prices charged, the man that did the machining sure has a higher regard for his own work than he deserves.:censored::fiery: And people with lots of money in the stock market think THEY have problems.

Time to face the music today and get policies in place for those being cancelled. Found a way to save a little on the truck, but homeowners premium will more than double. Some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug...

Good idea on transferring from Truck to Tractor. Sold my vehicle that could do that. I had a small battery operated pump for years. It finally died last summer. Need to get something before my back gives out.

Stainless steel safety wire and a good pair of Vice Grips, Drew. Try it sometime, you'll like it!

Good morning! 48˚ light rain, perfect for the rye grass seeds I planted in the stump area.

Ron, the 35" hose would have to be extended, unless you set the can on a bench next to the tractor.

I do like Drew does - just don't fill up the 5 gallons all the way - about 3.5-4 gallons. My FEL hoses make a perfect rest for the can to be tilted on while they are being emptied.

Kubota did not have the FEL cylinder seal kits in stock so that will have to be put on hold for a while. The FEL lift cylinders don't leak when they are not being used. I just can't start taking the tractor apart and have it disabled and out of service. I have alway had my tractor ready to go at moments notice. There is no telling when I'll have to remove a tree from the drive or get someone unstuck.

Drew you will never be able to convince my mom that the cold does not causes sickness even though I've told her it's the germs not the cold.

Kyle is the flu spreading in your family? By the time you realize you have it you have already exposed others. Just the way it is.

My old one needed to be on a bench or tractor step. Lawn mower is not a problem. It is 18" off the ground.

:duh:Brilliant! The NoSpills flow pretty well until they have to start venting through the nozzle, then they slow WAY down. Adding one of those cheap vents should fix that...

This can runs same speed full to empty. Not like those other safety cans. The button is easy to push and hold and it flows so fast it’s not an issue to me. I set mine on the hood and tilted it over, pushed the button and not much later 2.5 gallons were in there. It’s about as fast as my old gas can with regular nozzle.

I was just on Amazon ordering a replacement oil filter for the one I plan to use today (and ordering a couple of new rubber frisbees for Coco's birthday this month). I see a suggested item is Castrol bio-synthetic oil...I figure it is just a fancy new name for their blend...clicked to check it out and find it is made with 25% sugarcane "oil." Anybody ever heard of that?

I've been buying Mobil 1 synthetic at Costco when they have it on sale.

Never heard of sugarcane oil, but sounds sweet!:D
