So, I need to pull down some trees that are hung up on other trees. Some are very large oaks. I own a small 25hp tractor. After some research, it looks like a few snatch blocks and cable will do the trick. I don't believe I need to invest in any sort of winch attachment to do this, as I just cut wood for myself in my own woods. Maybe a hand winch like the More Power Puller would do the job, but that thing is over 300 bucks. So, could someone recommend a few snatch blocks and cable? Other thoughts?

Watch the sales at Harbor freight, you can get a 12,000# winch for that tractor for $300.

Or..... 65' of 3/8 cable for $35 before discount, snatch blocks $28 before discount & the 20% coupons are easy to get.

What’s the plan of attack. Cutting the base off the root ball and pulling backwards?

No roots attached.
I've rolled many leaners out of the tree they're hung up in. Wrap a chain around the trunk many times, then use a tractor, 4x4. or come-along to unwind the chain. Doesn't take nearly as much horse power / brute strength to roll a tree as it does to pull them down.

I plan on pulling the trunk of the tree away from the leaned on tree.
