What is the easiest way to run wiring in the of my new factory cab?

I would like to install a radio that includes a screen for backup camera along with replacing the speakers and installing new led work lights.

I would think gaining access to the celing /roof would help in running wires and making connections.

The dealer told me that the roof is held on with Six or so bolts. And removing it is an easy job.

The factory cab is prewired for a radio.

Buy a plug for a 90s Honda Passport or Izusu Rodeo and it will plug an aftermarket radio into the factory installed harness and speakers.

There enough pins to add front speakers. You will have to add pins for the camera, but there are empty slots in the plug.

So it is actually 6 bolts from the top, 6 nuts from the bottom and you need to pull the grip end off the lever for fresh air/ cabin air selector. Im taking pictures and can post once done.

I was able to remove the roof, install the radio, swap rear work lights for new leds and install a new relay and wiring to separate the front and rear work lights on their own switches. I also installed a switch to enable the rear view camera that works with the newly installed head unit. Im taking pictures of every step and will post once completed. I still need to swap the front work lights and install the rear camera. Here are a couple pics from before the work. IMAG1255.jpgIMAG1253.jpg

On my no the six on top don’t have to come off to remove the top, they hold the two piece shell together.

You are correct. I took them out first. You only need to do the 6 lower nuts.

Finished wiring, seperated front and rear work lights by adding relay, new speakers, added rear view camera and a switch to turn it on and off IMAG1318.jpgIMAG1326.jpgIMAG1320.jpg .... IMAG1323.jpgIMAG1324.jpgIMAG1330.jpgIMAG1331.jpg

The tractor uses a Metra 70-7712 harness for the radio, is that correct?

EDIT: Lol clearly I need to look at *all* the pictures. :ashamed:

Is ground for the radio provided in the harness or did you need to ground it separately?

Looks good, nice workmanship. I'm thinking about adding a couple of cameras to mine, having problems deciding what to get I put one in my plow truck and it works good I'm just not pleased with the color rendition on it, I would like to have the quality my RAM has with the 8.4 system.

Thanks. Was the harness color correct for you? I.E. yellow for battery, red for ignition, black for ground, etc. For some reason I have no constant power at the connector but there are no blown fuses from what I can tell.

Edit: Well I can see from your photo that you just matched up the colors, so I gotta figure out why I'm not getting battery power on the yellow wire.

Lack of constant power may be caused by a corroded pin in the harness under the tractor near the cab step. Water gets in the connection and won’t drain because of the orientation of the connector, causing galvanic corrosion of the constant power pin.
