Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 8:30 AM. Overcast with rain showers at times. High 56F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 50%.
2.13" of rain in the last 24 hours, pretty much a constant, light shower but some heavier rain overnight. It's supposed to become more intermittent today and tomorrow. Lots of road closures in the Santa Barbara area due to mudslides off the burn areas. Some evacuations and lost houses, too.
Hope Rip and his wife made it home safely. There's no place like home...

Power finally came on yesterday at around 3 PM. In addition to replacing the pole at the top of the property, the power company replaced the cross tie at the top of the pole that feeds my house; didn't take them long. Having the power out for a day is a good reminder of how much we take electricity for granted. And a good test of how well we'd do at keeping warm and feeding ourselves if the power went off for a longer time, especially with all this talk of the North Koreans popping an EMP nuke over the West Coast.
Got some reading done, and sorted through an eighteen inch high stack of magazines, throwing out older versions, making shelf space for the new. Some, like the American Rifleman, get added to the collection. I have every one, going back to the '30s. Too dark to work in the garage, so nothing done on the old bike. It was dark in the kitchen, too, dark enough that I poured boiling water onto my left hand trying to fill a coffee cup. Fished a cold wrap out of the freezer right away, and got away with a light sunburn feeling this morning. Very lucky on that one. I heated the next batch of water using an old Revere Ware tea kettle. Much safer to pour.
Back to the insurance search this morning, then maybe some bike work this afternoon.
