F150 3.3l

I bought my father a new F150 for Christmas. Is has the EB motor but really not sure which one. It's a 4x4 extra cab STX. I only drove it home from the dealer, about 20 miles on the highway, but is felt very peppy and responsive on the road. He won't be doing any heavy towing or plowing, just a grocery getter type of truck. It's his first new car in more than 15 years, he has always had my hand me downs.

I noticed the 0-60 was something like 7.7 which sounded pretty quick for a full size 4x4 with a 6 cyl. I won't be hauling with it or towing so I presume it will be fine and am looking forward to it coming in and having for a few years. Most interested in how I like the Ford and how it holds up. I mentioned in another thread I never had a Dodge truck until I had one for work and ended liking it enough to buy our family one. Sort of gives me a several year test drive of a product.

What a generous thing to do! Fantastic! Good for you.

I have the 4.6 and it works well for a compromise between towing/hauling and just getting around. I wouldn't want a 3.3 for my uses.

I'm a V8 guy, and own a 600 hp 4.6L-SC4V, but the 4.6L-2V Ford motor is really rather weak. The 3.3L V6 is stronger all around and has 6 gears vs 4. Motors have come along way.
Current 5.0 V8 is best motor for dependability over the long haul and real world fuel economy.

Thats really great Tom!

Btw i had a 2014 extended cab 4x4 with the 3.7L and it was a solid work horse. 80k miles, no problems but was not great with a trailer. That being said, i flogged that truck and frequently overloaded it and it always did the job.

Mine's a 2010. At that time, the 4.6 V8 2V seemed to be the best deal overall. The V6 of that era is rather high revving. I can go at interstate speeds and stay below 2000 RPM. At any rate, it only has a bit over 35K, garage kept, and wouldn't make economic sense to trade for a little better performance.
