Just found out I am getting a F150 3.3L for work and was wondering what they are like. Looks like a nice truck but seems like a bit small in displacement? What do you all think of them.I won't be towing anything - lot of mountain driving however so I was wondering about the power.

No personal experience but I got a new F150 recently with the 5.0. From what I’ve read it will do fine. Compared to the other engines in the lineup it’s pretty weak but when you look at its numbers it’s pretty strong. Unless you are towing heavy you will like it.

Only thing that concerned me is it seems no one drives one with the 3.3. Everyone I ask aways had a EB or the 5.0, seems like this motor rarely goes in private vehicles. Then again if I was buying it for myself I cant say I would have consider it with so many better choices available. Just seems "small" for the size of the truck.

The 3.3 is brand new for 2018, it replaced the NA 3.5.

Interesting - looks pretty decent. THANKS - I just cant get over how small the motor is. I think the current Tacoma I have for work has a 3.5l.

I think 5.0 is small for a full size truck. I guess it's fine if you load it with foam pellets.

I am not seeing anything to indicate that the 3.3 uses CGI like the 2.7 did. So my guess is that the 3.3 will be the basic fleet work truck engine and it has plenty of power for that particularly with the lighter AL build in the body and frame. I doubt Ford would boost the 3.3 if it does not have a CGI based block. I thought that later in the 2018 year the 3.0 diesel should be out, anyone know if that is still on the board?

I have the 4.6 and it works well for a compromise between towing/hauling and just getting around. I wouldn't want a 3.3 for my uses.
