Good morning!

Waking-up to the hustle and bustle, projects, and observations of the TBN Morning thread is a nice way to wake up the mind.

Kyle I like the idea of Captain Drew taking us to the Big Island for Morning coffee. We can meet at RNG's and take motorcycles to the dock.

69˚ heading to 80˚ south wind cloudy. In 24 hours the weather will change as the norther blast through dropping temps into the 30s by Wednesday. I had put off getting fire wood till today and then Mom calls with a flat on her car. I might have half a day to get and split wood if no more priority projects pop up.

Whipper has figured that anytime I have a treat it's a trick for something so now the treat is having the opposite effect for training. When I have a treat she stays 20' away and she has lots more patience than I do. For her "Trick-or-treat" means a treat set-up for a trick.

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 5:30AM. Sunny. High 57F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.

Randy and Drew, together in the same room. Now that's a pair to draw to.

Don, sounds like you need a dog psychologist consultation. Somebody that's smarter than any of us and Whipper.

I dunno about boats. Been here goin' on eight years now and still haven't been out on the lake, but you're all welcome here anytime for a little bench racing and whatever other kinda trouble seems appropriate.:D

Managed to get the shocks apart yesterday, using an old gunsmith's trick of powdered rosin on the wrench strap, and a good dose of heat. No corrosion on the threads, but evidence of what might have been threadlocker, which is why more heat helped.

Also made a support/stop for pressing bearings into Subaru idler pulleys, something my mechanic seems to be having trouble with. It supports the pully from underneath, using the tapered flange of the pulley for alignment. It was a bit of a challenge to get the taper correct, then cut just the right height on the support. Managed to get within 0.005", good enough for the girls I go with.

I've had on and off problems with the Apple Mail app on both the iPhone and iPad rejecting the SSL certificate on my ISP's mail server. When that happens, I get a pop up window complaining about it every time it checks for mail. A while back you could just tell it to accept the cert anyway and things would be fine, but now the only way around it is to delete the whole mail account and re-enter all the information. Been doing that dance with every iOS upgrade, and now is seems to be triggered by something more frequently. More Apple QC problems; Steve Jobs is probably spinning in his grave.

Up early to pack a few things for a trip south, put air in the tires, check the oil, and make sure that the fuel system repair is still holding. Not looking forward to dealing with Sacramento and SF Bay Area traffic, but the chance to spend the evening with an old buddy will help make up for it. A good meal would be nice, too.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

It was 29 outside this AM when I got up. Did the moon thing as I always manage to enjoy a good nature show. Worked on some more of the area around that old backyard fence line. Pulled up some tee-posts by hand. Yeah, takes too long with the tractors and chain. I need the knee exerciser anyway. Not much going on today.

Anyone have experience with medical flights? Not based on the major air lines. PM me if you care to share details that are to personal.

Appreciated, stay positive and have a great day all!

Woke to the sound of my wife filling the pellet stove beside me.
Slept in lazyboy again for most of the night, some on the couch. Chair footrest stuck halfway up. Did that a lot yesterday, just keep banging on it till it works.

Rough evening yesterday, awake a lot in the night. Hungry but dont feel like eating, did manage a small bowl of oatmeal.

Wife started putting up christmas decorations.

That moon was bright last night.
33° currently. Has taken me about 1/2 an hr to type this so far.

Y'all have a good day, enough of my moanings, lol.

Been reading that new retirement thread, tempting but cant due to medical insurance needs, and 2 kids in college.

Really enjoyed my time with Drew yesterday, I like him and I don’t care what y’all say! Lol
Ice fog here as well, what a mess, gotta remember it when I step out to feed what’s left of the outdoor cats. More going to the shelter later.
Glad you both had a good get together. When i feel up to it maybe i can swing over one day to say hi. I'm working on the gray beard part, havent shaved in a week.

Looks like the low this morning was 16*, only made it up to 38* yesterday. Started snowing yesterday afternoon and the wind was 20-30 most of the evening. Not sure how much we got but do have some 2 foot + drifts. Lite snow this morning and clearing in the afternoon with the high around 30*.

I'll go out here in a bit and start moving it around.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

Been reading that new retirement thread, tempting but cant due to medical insurance needs, and 2 kids in college.

I retired in 2012. In 2014 I returned to work due to medical events and the corresponding costs, care, insurance and monies. My bridge finances and accounts were evaporated due to one particular event, and I could no longer continue without income to carry me until the government programs would kick in.

I am sure it is a story repeated by thousands.

I hope you are fairing better these past few days.

Been reading that new retirement thread, tempting but cant due to medical insurance needs, and 2 kids in college.

I was all set to pull the plug in '08, but the recession caused me to put that off a bit. Turned out I wasn't very sure of what expenses and income would be once I stopped working, so I put a spreadsheet together based on what I'd been spending, and what I thought my pension/SSI might be. I was also planning to move, so I added what I thought I could get from selling the current house, what the replacement might cost, and how that would impact property tax and insurance costs. It took a while to pull all this together, but the bottom line is that I was a bit better off than I thought I was. When the working environment started going sideways, it was a relief to look at that spreadsheet and know that if things kept going the way they were, I could still maintain a comfortable lifestyle if I retired. Things did get worse right about the same time as the real estate market bottomed in late '09, and three months later when I found a property that fit into the spreadsheet comfort zone, I knew it was time to pull a Johnny Paycheck and do something better with my life. I would never have had the courage to make that move without the research that had gone into that spreadsheet, and so far things are working out pretty well. My guess is you've already done something similar, Farmer, but if you haven't, it might help to lower your stress level going forward. :2cents:
