Chains 2017 Kubota B2601

Hi Everyone-

Newbie here. Just took delivery of a Kubota B2601. Im getting ready for winter and doing my chain homework. I will need chains for sure. Has anyone out there had to put rear spacers on their B2601 for chains to fit? I want F&R chains. Im being told by one dealer I can put chains on the front and got a price- and the other dealer told me that absolutely no chains on the front of a B2601. In his words, he said that tractor is not made to fit chains on the front. Reallly? It sure as heck looks like the chains will fit on the rear- it is close. I was looking at the Tru Grip 225s for the rear. Anyone out there have chains on a B2601 F&R and without spacers?? I really dont want to pay for spacers if not really needed....pretty darn expensive. But I need chains for winter.

I welcome any advice you all might have.

I had the previous generation B, and it did not have enough room for chains between the rear tires and fender with R4 tires but I suspect there would have been enough room with Ag tires. What type of tires do you have?

Google Wheel spaces for Kubota. or buy from Kubota dealer in Vermont as they deal with this stuff often. Most Kubota dealers know nothing about spacers. Longer studs required. Max spacer you need is 1-1/2"

Front chains Amazon.com: GDP-: Automotive
GDP-070 or GDP 060 will fit front. Buy a spare set as they are not heavy duty. Heavy duty will not be good for front axle. These are fairly harmless and still help with traction.

Load your tires.

I am finding mixed opinions from the dealers...frustrating. Prices for the wheel spacers are all over the place...

I am in a similar situation with my 2006 NH TC26DA. I have read both pro and con to having only front chains. The local dealer says it shouldn't be a problem "as long as you don't abuse the tractor." I experimented a few years back with studs on the rear tires - didn't shell out the big bucks for ones especially for tractors but tried the ones made for motorcycle ice racing, the right length of stud for my tires - no good. Didn't help at all. Last winter I did a brief experiment with "rope chains" on the rears - just rope tied snugly in loops thru the wheels. They did show some increase in traction, and with only use on snow showed little wear as well. I clear about 1/4 mile of dirt road and driveway and for me, front only is sufficient. I might add the rope chains on the back again if feeling ambitious.

One thing for sure: for ease of installation the X chains are far better on the R4's than ladder style chains, though I do suspect you might get a tiny bit more traction out of ladders.
