New dog sits on the hardwood floor and scratches her side, thumping her leg on the wood floor as she does. Old dog thinks someone is knocking on the door and barks. Cycle goes on every day.

My 2 can be laying on the floor in the family room with us seemingly asleep, when they hear a doorbell on the TV even remotely like ours will jump and run barking to the front door ready to 'maul' the intruders! They usually won't come back until I yell, "It's the TV."

We have 2 dogs... Minnu, on the right - an Anatolian Shepherd (Livestock Guardian) Dog. Max, on the left, a Golden Retriever - that we rescued in 2016.

we also have a Black Bear (den) living on the property - the reason that we have Minnu.

sadly just 2 yrs ago, we said goodbye to Quincy - our beloved 14 lb Jack Russell (who was relentless with the 200 lb bear)

Our Chihuahua, Dee, had a birthday yesterday. She's now 12 years old. I know that I posted a picture of her in this thread, but so far back there that I'd probably never find it.

Here is Sadie. Our 13.5lb miniature Datsun. You wouldn’t think she is so small by her bark. It starts at the tip of her tail and builds up volume as it travels her body...ha...ha. She is a great dog that loves everybody. She also loves to go...anywhere.

Bird--Your dog pics are in this thread from when you first got her. Seems like light years ago.

He'll drive with me anywhere in the truck. Sits on the center console to make sure I know how to drive then curls up and goes to sleep.

They seem to know what a photo is and become little posers don't they.... LOL

I've known this guy for two years, still don't know his name yet.

He sits off the road about 70 yards and watches me and my wife walk by. When we come back, he'll come closer to the road waiting. Started bringing treats the last year, and every night he looks for us LOL

Looks like a Maremma (or an Akbash). One of my neighbors started bribing my dog, who would then go for walks with the (elderly) woman up and down the street. I've now got a fence up, though if the neighbor wanted to she's welcome to have the dog walk with her (but I haven't seen the neighbor in a while now). Another neighbor stopped by and, before could warn him, jumped down into the roadside ditch (deep) to come across to talk to me. The guy's been beat up with medical issues (cancer). I didn't see it, but he said that my dog helped pull him up and out of the ditch. My dog never ceases to amaze me.

Yep it is a Maremma. He looks exactly like our Vinnie we lost just over a year ago. We still miss him.

Yes, I recall hearing about that loss. I'd been planning on having a couple of Maremmas for a long time, so when I run across anything Maremma I take notice: everyone around me seems enamored with Great Pyrenees; one neighbor has one and it won't protect against aerial predators- our dog does (and she's not an actual pure breed, not even considered an LGD!).

I don't look forward to the day when our "Mastador" (Mastif+Lab) is no longer with us: she'll be eight next year. She's been one of the best life-traveling companions that one could ever have. She's been a really good LGD (we trained her).

Funny you would post that picture because had very similar dog come to my house couple weeks ago. Assumed it was a Great Pyrenees. Shy at first but after I gave her a can of Alpo she was friendly enough to allow me to scratch her belly. She hung around a few hours then left, had rabies tag so assume she went back home? :)

She has it figured out for sure and also knows how to climb up in my lap and lay her head on my chest to get what she wants. In fact it seems that she has me right where she wants me....darn dog.
