I could do that. But don't really know much you could size up on those things. You can't see the clutch plate, but being 5 years old...if that is the case, I heard of peple who have worked those things hard for 20 years and the clutches were still new. Unless he wound the cable out, you can't be sure of the cable. A new cable from what I gather would be about 250 dollars. Other then that, maybe the drive shaft condition. They seem like fairly simple rigs. He will sell for 2200, that would be about 2500 for me to go over and pick it up and back.

Dry dead pine, but I was still proud of the little tractor

Here is a bandsaw sawmill that is currently on my property for milling some redwood trees.

It is from Horrible Fright, but it is the same as the one you see from Northern or DR. It cuts
well, but is limited to logs of about 20" wide and the blade can only be lifted about 16" higher
than the bunks. The cable arrangement for raising the engine/cutting head evenly is a bit
problematic.

But is does cut, and it is the cheapest one out there. $1995 from HF, and sometimes on sale.

You do need a tractor to move it around, and to load logs onto the base frame.

My "firewood tractor" was doing double duty today! It was carrying logs to the BSM!

Deleted for brevity and subject....

AND as always, around any sawmill, you end up with some nice slab wood that will make GREAT firewood!

That's it for today!

Hi SR,

Impressive as ever- especially that thin piece trimmed off the 5/4.

However, you're maybe being too short-sighted, those bark on pieces would also make really excellent rustic siding put on with a simple overlap pattern!

Just sayin,
PA

PS: Although you might have to do some more trimming...

I've seen that done and personally I think It looks terrible. Not to mention that most of the insects live in the bark, and the bark rots and falls off pretty quickly. Now, if you wanted to use your mill and cut wood siding, no complaints from me.
