Hudson would deliver. Personally next fall possibly. I do favour the the uni- , but farmi is used and thus a little cheaper for me right now

Can you inspect the Farmi? I have the 351 and it seems bomb proof however buying a used one would require an inspection if it were me.

My "firewood tractor" was doing double duty today! It was carrying logs to the BSM!

My helper was here today too, BUT today we was working for him, as they were "his" (hard) maple logs.

Here's the first one, loaded on the BSM's bunks,

It opened up nicely and we got the slabs off it, fairly quickly,

Last time I used my mill, I had adjusted my set works for a spl cut, and of course I forgot to put them back SO, I had to "trim" a little off the last 5/4 board,

Anyway, he got a nice pile of 12" wide boards off that one maple,

AND as always, around any sawmill, you end up with some nice slab wood that will make GREAT firewood!

That's it for today!

I can't inspect it really as I would have to cross an 8 hour ferry, then a 5 or 6 hour drive. I asked if he'd reduce it to $2000 Canadian, that 500 would allow me to drive across to get it. He said it was 5 years old, stored inside. selling for a women who lost her husband. 351 model. I had the impression he didn't really know much. Didn"t know how much cable was on it. Thought he said it was on a 60HP tractor... big tractor for small winch isn't it? But really, at 5 years old....can someone trash a winch such as this? their pretty durable from what I've read over time.

They do hold up well and can take some abuse. It is hard when you have to second guess and the seller is not knowledgeable. I don't think I would worry to much about it being on a 60 hp tractor the 351 is a pretty rugged unit. Last spring I bought a 15 year old 501. I could look at it but not try it. It looked a little beat up and the pto shaft was jammed onto it and bent. But once I fixed that it operated like it should.

Yeah, it's a ways away to just go look at it. As I said before, they are pretty much bomb proof. Doesn't matter how many horses it's been ran with in reality. I don't really see how I could abuse mine unless I rolled it off a cliff. Go for It!

Ask if they will do a video chat with you - either via Skype or Whats-app etc. I did that to buy a Jeep that was a 5hr drive away. I didn't want to waste a 10 hr round trip! Worked great, they walked around the whole vehicle, anywhere I asked they showed me, I was able to see it running etc. Made me feel a lot better about making a deal and it also gave the seller confidence that I was a serious buyer.

Got the new Honda GX160 on the conveyor (not fun) and rebuilt the carb on the GX340 splitter engine. Finally got to split a lil wood today.
