I don’t wear glasses, had surgery about 15 years ago. But I do wear “readers” for reading and close work. I found readers.com a few months ago and am very satisfied. Their prices are reasonable and they regularly have 30-40% off. I’ve bought a few pairs of readers and several pairs of sunglasses with built in reader lenses.

I like Costco. But their scratch resistance does not seem to be as good as Walmart and Sams.

Haven't had problems with the scratch resistance, but then I'm pretty careful to use only clean microfiber and real glasses cleaning solution on the lenses. Costco does guarantee scratch resistance though. Have you ever gotten scratched lenses replaced? I have, I think more than once. I do notice that the rainbow look of the anti-reflective coating wears off, but I'm not distracted by stray reflections in the lenses like I was before those coatings were available. Now if I could just keep the molten welding beads and grinder sparks at bay, I might be able to get more than a year or so out of a pair of lenses!:laughing:

Had our first frost a few days ago, and now tomorrow is forecast to be 63 to 91 for a low to high. I'm doing my Fall chores. One day in the last week, I used the Hoover Steam Vac on all the carpets in the house, another day I cleaned the outside of all the windows in the house. Another day I moved all the furniture from the deck into the shop, then cleaned the deck. So, if all goes according to plan, tomorrow I'll apply a fresh coat of Sherwin Williams SuperDeck (they used to call it Deckscape) to the deck and steps.

Welcome, Diwali! Well I remember back in '95, coming into Wales, fleeing the cold and rain of Scotland on an old Norton Commando. I'd enjoyed the TT races earlier that June, and had visited Lands End with the idea of making it all the way up to John o' Groats, thinking that summertime would be nice up there. That wasn't the case, and after three days of being waterlogged and frozen, I was hoping Wales would be a pleasant change. It was near noon, and the little BBBB road I was on had wound its way up and over a range of mountains, with more mist and sheep on the way than was comfortable. As I made my way back down and crossed over the border, the sun came out and shone down a beautiful white stone pub. I very much enjoyed the plowman's lunch and a pint of best bitter to wash it down. Never did get used to the names they gave things in Wales, though, since after the first couple dozen letters or so, they all seemed to blur together making navigation something of a challenge!

37°F and light rain this morning, going up to 52° today. Weatherman says near 80° by Sunday.

Welcome to the thread, Diwali.

Pick up an instrument and start plucking, Ed. Music is a powerful magic that heals many things. I've long been telling people to learn to play a musical instrument. Once you learn, there's never a reason to be bored ever again. I currently play 14 instruments; guitar, bass, drums, piano, organ, violin, viola, cello, contrabass, trumpet, trombone, recorder, shakuhachi, and voice. Still trying to find a reasonable french horn for my next conquest.

I have a music room with baby grand, ovation acoustic guitar, two electric guitars, pump organ, homemade fiddle, trumpet. I can't play worth crap, but enjoy messing with them occasionally.

Good morning! Had .6" rain last night and THUNDER. Ms. Whipper gently tapped on the back door and she got to lay by the couch for a few hours. She barked for the fist time last night also since her wanderings. things are getting back to normal.

Sorry that its been a month since I was here. New Laptop seems to almost have as many issues as the dead one had... Grrrr...

Very frustrated with non-responsive building contractors. Clearly they don't need any business so once again we are starting with a fresh round of builders to get quotes and find a way to build our new home.

Need to get the chainsaw and splitter running we will clearly be spending another winter in the current house.

I hope and Pray all are well here.

Nice. I used to work for an organ builder, and had a small 2-manual pipe organ in my house before I got married. No room in the Wife's house, so I had to put it in storage when we got married. Sold it a couple of years ago. An organ builder I know in Virginia was trying to sell me a pump organ just last week. Wish I had room for another one, even if it's a pump. It's awesome having a pipe organ in your home.

My old organ, Wicks Opus 1384 ("Sonatina" model)

I guess everyone survived the spooks and goblins last night. I think we have fewer and fewer trick or treaters each year. Of course yesterday we had rain in the forecast for the evening, and we got about .03" but it was all over and gone before 5 p.m. That may (or may not) have had anything to do with us only having a dozen trick or treat kids last night. Sure have a surplus of candy left now.
