One tip re these light trailers: A tire chart show 24~28 psi is sufficient for the loads it is likely to carry. This prevents the little guy (150 lbs empty) from hopping as you pull it.

There was a day when they would have just helped him. Now its all about how much money they can rake in.

Maybe in farm country it would have been OK (or less bad?) with a tractor but he's within the urban boundary of or Nation's Capital. There's actually a Police Station right there just out of the picture! A couple grand in fines/fees -- the guy should consider himself lucky. It's not about raking in money, it's about educating people that are too stupid to figure things out on their own. Ignorance doesn't absolve you from obeying the laws.

And just what is wrong with moving a garage without paying to do so?
You did notice that he was allowed to continue once he PAID for the permit.
Safety isn't the issue, money is.

Permits that insure you and your equipment are capable of doing the job is fine. Few permits that i see do so. Services provided by utilities to move wires, light etc usually seem to have a extra fee for that service.
Police escort thru congested areas is a darn nice idea.

Those videos from Russia etc i will agree are quite amazing. Somehow i do not think permits would have much affect

Having been in the industry (moving oversize loads) I can tell you permits have NOTHING to do with safety and everything to do with money.

Pay the money & you are somehow safe with the same equipment & route that you were going to use without the permit?
