I have the same problem. Mapping software shows our house in about the right location but usually shows the wrong way to get there (it was valid in 1950 but not now). Drivers take the wrong way even though there's a sign pointing the right way. Instructions I give don't make it to the driver, except the one time I was able to get the driver on the phone ahead of time. He still didn't follow my directions, made the wrong turn and had to turn around on a very narrow single lane road.

GPS is mostly useless in my region for that same fact. Lots of roads they try to send you on are nothing more than logging roads from 80 years ago that are hardly fit to take an ATV on these days.

That is 100% correct - been on a few "roads" up there and thought "what am I doing here"?? LOL

Which mapping software? I have a friend who lives in an area where Google gets it wrong 100% of the time, while MapQuest works fine.

Most places, Google is quite accurate, and they do accept corrections. I got them to stop sending people to my house via my neighbor's driveway. They appreciated that.

It took about a year after I submitted the correction, but it did get corrected. Did the same with MapQuest.

Mapquest and Google show our easement has the name that is signposted on the next-over parallel street - which is a short segment reached near the back end of our easement.

But my tax bill shows the easement with a different road name, probably the official name per the Building Department. This name isn't used for anything else.

The physical easement has no markings at all.

The six of us fronting on, and using, the easement have postal addresses that fall out on the county road, not very close to where our easement meets that road. But our mailboxes are mounted at our individual driveways along the easement - so searching out on the county road for one would never find it.

Confused yet? :) This is why for guests I provide my postal address, which they will find on the mailbox when they reach my driveway. And also a 'made-up' address that their GPS will use to take them down the unmarked easement and right to my place.

Country living is just different.

Yeah, my neighbor's driveway runs from the front of his 2 acre lot on the main road, all the way through to the back of his lot, on our street. Looks like a road to satellite pictures, so that's how the mapping companies had it listed.

You would think even someone with no knowledge or experience would know enough to look under the vehicle first to see where the forks were positioned.

I over loaded my poor truck. The door sticker says GVW 15,000 Crossed the scales at 22,000. IMG_0077.JPG

Don't have a truck to haul your laminate flooring home.... Just bust out the back window.

Only attachment is the picture of the trike-truck standing up. Unsure why the link is going to an invalid attachment.

Twice within the last month I've seen small utility trailers with broken tongues on the road. No pics of either as we have a no cell law here and too much traffic to stop.

First looked like about a 4'x8' piece of junk trailer with a older (early 80s?) compact tractor with loader. The tractor itself just fit on the 4x8 and had a loader with the bucket curled all the way under to clear the tailgate of the truck. Tongue broken/bent right at the front of the bed dragging on the ground as he pulled off the main road onto a side road.

Second was a 5x10 single axle landscape/utility trailer with a bunch of 12' lumber piled out over the front rail. He made it from the Home Depot parking lot just out onto the main highway (two lane each way with a fifth center shared turn lane) before it gave out exactly the same way. It was parked in the center lane with the 4 ways on when I went by. The trailer if it had been in good shape would have been more than sufficient to carry the load (unless there were a bunch of bags of cement that I couldn't see) under the lumber

Not nearly as serious but I put an IBC Tote (275 gallons) on a $30 used HF 40"x48" trailer. That worked fine for watering new trees until I tried to back uphill in freshly disced ground, which bent the tongue.

I welded a piece of bedframe angle iron onto the very soft U-channel tongue of the HF trailer. This has worked fine for several years now - even though I'm pulling 2600 lbs on a trailer rated 900 lbs. Here's a photo of the weld project I put over on Welding Web - let's see if they allow links: (photo). No way would I take this trailer on the highway!
