Tractor
Mahindra 24 HST
So I'm new. Both to the site and to tractors. Just purchased a Mahindra 24 HST. Pretty happy that I just shredded part of my property I havn't been able to touch with my zero turn for months due to feral hog damage. Looking forward to fixing it.
So I'm learning about my new tool and notice I have no mid PTO. This is not a huge deal because I have no plans to run a mid mount mower, but doing my due diligence for price comparison I cannot for the life of me find one on the internet that does not come equipped with a mid mount.
Is the mid mount PTO an option? Sure looks standard to me. Does it affect resale? No plans on selling it but good to know. Did I buy some kind of dealer test model? had 7.2 hours on it when I purchased it.
Thanks for any help guys. Pretty exited about what I should be able to do with this little guy

Most tractor DO NOT have a mid PTO, only the rear PTO is common. Middle PTO's are only useful for some mowers and some snow blowers so they just are not all that common and are a somewhat expensive option on most makes.
A rear PTO is common on almost all utility tractors. I would say all but I'm sure there are some exceptions somewhere.

On some tractors it's not too difficult to get the parts and add a middle PTO after the sale but on some I think it's a lot more difficult and may require splitting the tractor to add it. Looking at my tractor I think it would be easy to add if I needed it but my dealer talked me out of that option saying I would likely never need it. If I lived in heavy snow county I might have insisted on it for use with a snow blower.

99% sure its standard on the max24. All the spec sheets including Mahindra list it. I have a max 22 and it has it. Do you have 2 levers on the left side Sof the seat ? If so the outer one is for the mid pto and the inner is fo the rear

Don't confuse the Max with the eMax.

I believe all Max24 have the mid-PTO. As mentioned above, you will have two levers next to your left hip when sitting in the seat. That's a fine small tractor, I like the Max22/24/25 iterations.

Thanks for the replies guys!
Howdy neighbor jdmcclendon!

Tractor is a max, not emax
I agree on the spec sheets. Everyone I have seen seems to show mid mount as standard on this max24.
Only one lever for rear pto. Slot for the mid pto is just empty.
Dealer says there is a bolt on kit if I want to add it (I have no intention to). I do feel like I got a pretty darn good deal on it. Not like I paid for something that isnt there. It just doesn't meet any spec sheet or model variation I can find.
I guess my question is do dealers request tractors like this that are off spec and why? Is anything else on the tractor going to be off spec? Or does mahindra offer models without the mid pto and I just can't find them with casual internet browsing?
I appreciate y'alls opinions and help!

Sorry but something doesn't sound right. All the specs show its standard and I just checked out the online parts manual for the 24 and it only shows one transmission for the 24 and it has a mid pto.Think I'd politely go back to your dealer and tell him what you've learned on the forum and that your curious why it doesn't have one.

Can you post a picture of your tractor, and then one of your PTO controls?

That is freakin off the charts!!!! WTF!!! i never saw anything like that. I have 2 controllers. i only use the bucket and rarely the midmower - never used or have anything to hook up the rear pto. That is wacked out. I did not even thing they made one like that!

curious to see what Dave has to say about it.

I've had a couple hundred of these go through my place and I have never seen one without a mid-pto. So the slot is there, but is empty. Could the lever be missing but the PTO is actually in place?

Look underneath the tractor and tell us if you see a forward facing PTO under the mid-section. It might have a shield over the shaft. Snap us another picture if you don't mind.

That tractor was probably built a couple years back, if you get me the serial I can check it. I see the 5-year warranty sticker, that is my first clue. Then the cracked decal, showing a little UV aging.

None of this really matters unless a guy were to want to install a mid-mower, but it is perplexing. Inquiring minds want to know....

if you look on the left of the seat i have 2 levers on my max 25 hst (taken when it was new)

Or maybe there was a batch or two of these that were not built with the mid-pto. It is possible. Very seldom did anyone use that pto.

Dave, sent you the model and serial number.

I'll try to get a pic from under tomorrow after work. Since I haven't seen one myself I'm going to guess on location or take multiple pics, but I see nothing like a forward facing PTO.
Again I have no intention of putting a mid mount finish mower on it and around these parts the light dusting of snow once a year and solid layer of ice don't have me itching for a snow blower. My need is with the rear PTO and loader. My concern is more on making sure everything is on the up and up.
Maybe we all learn a thing or two. I know I am! Thanks for the input guys.

Another question for you Dave. This one had 7.2 hours on the meter when I bought it. What do they usually read when they hit your lot?

The mid pto shaft is just forward of the centerline of the rear axles inline with the rear pto. With the 3pth raised you can lay down and reach it from the back of the tractor

Another question for you Dave. This one had 7.2 hours on the meter when I bought it. What do they usually read when they hit your lot?

Mitsu product will have less than 1 hour, often less than 1/2 hour. Often a dealer will put a little time on the tractor moving it around the lot, perhaps warming it up a time or two to keep the battery topped off, and in our case every tractor goes on the dyno for 1/2 hour. So it is easy to get 2-3 hours on one. And if a tractor sits on the lot for a few months....or a year or two....it will often end up with 5-10 hours on it. Honestly the new tractor issues, such as a leaky hose or some loose bolt somewhere generally show themselves in the first 5 hours. I wish all tractors had a few hours of usage or testing before delivery.

As to tractor age, this comes up on TBN occasionally. Tractors will have build dates that are generally not obvious to the untrained, but the tractor year model is generally considered the year it is retailed, so long as it is a current model. This tractor, even though it was not built in this current year (thanks for the VIN McRibb), would be considered a 2017 for insurance and financing and retail value reasons. Since we have no title, there really are no defined rules regarding year model, but that is how we handle it.

Lastly, I sure like this model. It's the smallest tractor that is still built like a real tractor, not a riding lawnmower. Obviously the eMax, BX, etc. tractors are great sellers and meet a huge need as sales volume is huge, but I like the conventionally built machines best. The Max24 is built just like a 50 HP tractor, just smaller.
