71 outside this AM. Looks to be a fine day for grass cutting. Looks like I will be cutting grasses all day too as some people shirked on their responsibilities for a while. Looking out over the hay fields too, no one has been there either. With rain coming up this w/e, not sure what is going on with that job.

Filled the pool last night, weather must be off as the water level was below optimum level for the skimmers. Kind of early to be doing that, guess the rains in VA have missed us a few times.

Have a great day all, be safe.

Glad to see you are back but with my vivid immigration I think you have been away on a secret mission to save the world

68 going to 85 and cloudy.

Good to see Whipper and Max cooling off.

Today I'm hoping the mowing fairy will come, otherwise, it's on me.

66F and partly cloudy @ 08:00, calling for a high of 78F today, slight chance of showers this morning, 20% chance of rain for the day.

Got the new battery cable put on and new fuel filter installed on the Simplicity. Now the starter just spins ... starter drive won't kick out and engage the flywheel ... so sussing that out will be on today's list.

Ran in town yesterday afternoon to pick up meds, stopped by the property to clean up broken glass. Was talking to one of the guys there and he mentioned that they had caught three kids - one boy, two girls around 10 years old or so - on Monday I think, throwing rocks at the building windows, by a Saturn they had parked there that was headed to the scrapyard ... in broad daylight no less. A couple of guys yelled at them and the kids just casually walked away ... didn't even run. Next day when they came in the rear window in the Saturn was busted out. SMH.

Just saw what I think might have been an Indigo Bunting out on the bird feeders. Was probably 80' away so really hard to say but it was quite blue. Don't think it was a bluebird ... don't usually see them down here around the house.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.

71°F this morning and partly cloudy skies, going up to 97° today. Last scorcher of the week for us; around 80° the rest of the week.

Eric, I have a local friend visiting your side of the pond this week. He posted on Facebook yesterday that the house where they're staying in London has no AC, and it's hotter inside than outside.

Another guy I know out in Scottsdale AZ noted it was 117°F yesterday ... and added "but it's a dry heat."

Stay cool, fellas.

Low was 47* this morning and the high yesterday was 88*. It's going to be a about the same today. The wind will be 15-25 mph, a chance of thunderstorms later in the day.

Not much planned for today. Need to see how much lumber I need to pick up in town to finish replacing the trim on the house. So I can start painting it soon.

Hope everyone has a nice day

A large flock of wild canarys has moved into my back tree line, cool birds to watch. In the late 50's my aunt found a domestic canary in a flock of them, he landed on her finger and she kept "Pete" for many years.

Good Morning!!!! 83F @ 7:45AM. Sunny. Near record high temperatures. High near 105F. Winds W at 10 to 15 mph.

TV weather said we'd be under a red flag fire warning until Friday because of high temps and winds and low humidity. Glad I got the grass cut when I did, as they're strongly discouraging the use of all power yard tools.

Yes, Eric, an in line fuse at the battery is part of the plan. I think I can get away with 5 amps, but will dig into the manuals to make sure. But until this heat wave passes, no more trips to the attic for me!

Managed to suss out the connection for the new thermostat and get it working yesterday, and am happy to report that Honeywell tech support answers promptly and are native English speakers. They give out good advice as well, at least in my case. I was able to disable the geofencing and scheduling functions using the Lyric iPhone app, and turn the fan and A/C on/off from within the Home app, all that I'd hoped. Both apps also report inside temps, and high/low temp notifications can be set up as well, but again aren't really necessary here. I'm satisfied with how it works, and just hope it keeps working that way.

Today I'll get the drip system turned back on, and maybe do a little work out in the garage before it gets too hot. Then inside for more desk jockeying.

Happy Hump Day gang!
