Got tree cleaned up and chipped. All that left is stump. Hope get that cleaned up tomorrow if I can get myself to do something in the heat forecast.
Did a ribeye steak on the Traeger grill. Good dinner.

Rock springs is still a oil and gas town. It's starting to pick up again, but not like it was.

Drew, nice pics.

How long should I keep my 7 year old in time out. He got mad at his 12 year old sister and threw a pencil at her face like a dart type throw. Missed her eye by an inch...I told him to get a pillow, he's gonna be there a loooong time. Maybe til he turns 21.....

Been watching videos about our Yukon giving a stabilitrak alarm, reduced engine power. I already replaced the supposed culprit TPS throttle position sensor. Well a tankful of gas later, it happened again. Always seems to happen when turning onto a highway and giving it some decent throttle pedal. Now a P2138 alarm is showing, which means it could be the accelerator pedal position sensor, or a short, or many other things. ARRRGH.

Got the oil and filter changed in the new to me Altima. Also a new air filter. so far, so good, knock on wood. Why do the put the oil filters on the side of the engine above the frame member that guarantees that you will get spilled oil all over the place when replacing it??? Why??? I liked my old GM 350, the oil filter was mounted straight up. You could get at it, and change it without making a major mess.

Also got under the old Impala, which decided about a month ago to not turn over and start. Battery plenty good. Remembered I had a starter, taken off a junked car. Put it on and she fired right up. Whew. Glad that is done.

That's enough time under the cars for me today. I'm tired like Drew.

Gave 12 year old daughter a driving lesson in the impala across the road in the county fair parking lot. She's pretty good already. Needs some more practice.

was greeted this morning by a very high climbing gecko, all the way up top on the utility shed roof, must have had quite a view up there.
And vulnerable to a bird I would think.
got a face full of water when a decent quality hose let loose, the fitting looked nicer than it was. Metal corroded through, I could not get either end off,
had to cut both fittings off, and put a nice brass connector with heavy duty ss hose clamps on it. No leaks now.

local wheat fields were cut and the one next to me done without incident. I went along the edge pulling my gas powered blower and it blew what little chaff came over.

had fun digging up my red potatoes in the raised veggie garden, just enough for me.

lastly, when I went over to my farmer neighbor's hovel, trying to find him to give him a half dozen of these red potatoes, I amused myself by looking at old engines in his yard.
looks like not much works. And he clearly never ever throws anything out.

Lots of projects there......for anyone mechanically inclined!

It is sometimes hard getting kids of any age to appreciate consequences before doing something stupid.

You could tell him about the lamb I picked up yesterday. It had suffered a sharp object in it's left eye - a crow's beak - not a pretty sight. Tell him nature is sometimes cruel, but good boys, especially those who have been knighted, should never be.

How about giving him this option today. Grounded, or instead, able to play out providing he keeps coming back to tell you what he wouldn't have been able to see if he was blind? Each time you add it to a list and you read it together at the end of the day.

Good morning all. Light cloud this morning and warm enough to sit out as long as you are wearing something to block the wind.

I spent yesterday stood up all the time making a door frame and now my creaking back wants me to have a rest while the rest of me wants to get the door hung. We will see which body part wins out (or whines out) today. Very easy to cut long lengths down to exactly the right width now I have a track saw. I had done that the day before and hadn't expected to then make such slow progress, though when time came to cut out for the hinges, the oak was hard going, even with sharp chisels. As I have other doors to make later, it was a good excuse to play at more woodwork and spend time on making a hinge cutting jig for the router.

With the radio on in the background, the sound of rain rattling on the roof, the smell of freshly cut wood and plenty of breaks when my wife called me in to share a pot of tea, it was about as good as it gets for time spent indoors.

that last engine, the old iron Briggs, now that might be a good restore project. For sure whatever it's connected to in that pile of junk is unlikely to work. But often pumps and other things break, motor still works.
I'm a restorer by heart, a boneyard inspector, and I go in this neighbor's large yard filled with hundreds of old broken down items, and it's part sadness and part wonder of all the possibilities.....

I liked the one where the nameplate proclaims "Cast Iron Extra long life engine", does that make you want to see if it still has some life left in there ?

Very smart approach.
