I have changed the fuel filter, changed the fuel in tank, replaced selenoid, prayed and wept a little. I have manually filled the line from fliter to injectors and it will run until that fuel runs through, but no fuel moving from filter housing into line. The filter housing is full of fuel by me. Any advice would be apreciated.

Also while running the throttle works fine to raise and lower idle.

either your screen is plugged in the tank or the fuel pump is so worn it has zero suction.

You know it has a little primer lever too. Try pumping it for a minute or so to see if it will prime.

And now you know why you need to head bump a concrete wall whenever you run a diesel rig out of fuel. ....thats why diesel rigs usually come with 2 battery's.

Ive had fits like that as construction maintenance on many diesel rigs after draining the water separator....the fuel pump is so weak it will not connect HG vacuum with the tanks to suck the fuel up.

Pull the lines off the lift pump#5.. have someone spin the engine.. FEEL if its sucking one way & blowing the other..
IF SO.. reinstall the lines.. MAKING SURE they go on the correct way..
Loosen the return line banjo bolt on the injection pump & Pressurize the fuel tank w/ a little shop air..
Spin the engine while doing this.. the air should be dispelled & fuel should come out of the loosened return line bolt.
Tighten.. NOW, loosen the lines AT THE INJECTORS & spin the engine until fuel squirts out & tighten..

Didnt run out of fuel. It just idled down and to a stop like being out of fuel, but i noticed when i drained the tank thinking it might be water in the fuel that it was not out of fuel.

I have replaced the lift pump and it was not working. Now tractor runs until fuel filter runs dry. I pullèd fuel line from tank to fuel filter and have flow. And yes the fuel shutoff lever is in the o possition. Ready for more great and wise advice.

Sounds like O means off. Turn the lever.

For the 4300, the "O" is open and the "C" is closed according to the operator's manual.

Fuel should run out with the filter cup/element removed and the shut off valve in the "O" position.. I'm thinking.

IF your sucking the filters dry, theres no fuel getting to them, simple right??
The lift pump is doing its job by pulling the fuel from the filters & up to the injection pump..
The problem is from the filters back to the tank.. TRY loosening/removing the fuel cap.. OR you have something preventing the flow from the tank TO the filters.. good luck.

Open the shut down valve. You say it's on 0. It means to me that it's closed.

I have tried both ways. O is where lit was when it ran last. The other choice is marked C i assume for closed.

Check your operators manual if you still have the JD 4200..

Since your pump suck the filter empty, you have the problem from the filter backwards.
Did something fall in the tank and block supply?
We sure can rule out ice buildup at this time of the year.

I took apart the filter housing at the open closed knob and discovered that the nylon valve had broken and either possition was open. I then purchased a new filter housing and installed it. Low and behold when tge fuel can get to the injectors she starts up like she always wanted to. Thanks everyone for the the sound advise.

whsjohn - I know this post is old, you may not see it - I think I am having the same issue - your last post says "the nylon valve had broken and either position was open." - did you mean that the valve was CLOSED no matter what position it was in, so no fuel got into the bulb? I just changed the filter on mine, and it won't start. (It did run for a few seconds, I presume consuming the fuel in the line. Now it won't fire at all.) I wonder if that nylon valve broke when I closed/opened it to change the filter...
Thanks.
