Kioti ck40hst
Hi everyone, posting here for the first time with a cel problem on my ck40. At about 50 hours the light would sporadically come on for no apparent reason. Sometimes within 10 mins of starting the tractor sometimes after 4hours and sometimes not at all. Same sporadic timeframe for when the light goes out as well. I called the dealer up, told him about and he sent someone out to ck the computer but it threw no codes. Of course the light didn't come on for him. They ckd with kioti and replaced, I think it was a sensor, don't remember for sure. Didn't take long and the light came back. Dealer came out and picked the tractor up and took it back to there shop. There they linked the computer to kioti where kioti tried to diagnose the problem. They had the dealer replace the wiring harness this time. Got the tractor back and a couple days later light came back. I've been really happy with the tractor and the dealer. I'm sure they'll keep trying and get it fixed but was wandering if anybody else is familiar with this problem or have any advice? The tractor now has 155 hrs so I use it alot and hate to keep having down time while its at the dealer.
Thanks,
Guy

Hi Guy,

I've got a very similar problem here. I'm at a little over 100 hrs on my CK4010 and have it in the shop for the third time for this CEL problem. I believe they tried a similar fix to yours, reprogramming the computer, cleaning the EGR valve, etc. Did yours ever get fixed completely?

I'm getting sick of loading my tractor up and taking it in for this issue.

Thanks!

As far as I know mine isn't fixed yet. As far as an update since I made the original post here........in February when it was relatively cold I had an issue with it smoking and sputtering. Cel light was on. Dealer wasn't sure but after the smoking/sputtering problem they changed the fuel filter. I also pulled, drained and cleaned the fuel tank and recovered the screen that I accidentally knocked into the tank the first time I fueled it up. after that I haven't really used the tractor but I doubt any of the above fixed the cel problem. Here soon I plan to put some time on it and if the cel problem still exsists I'm going to call the dealer back. It sounds like quite a few of these tier 4 tractors are having the same problem so I hope kioti figures out a solution soon. Mine comes on randomly and always goes out after a restart of the engine but will usually come back on within a couple minutes. Please keep me posted if you get yours resolved as I'm desperate as well

I got mine back yesterday and so far so good. They put in a higher temp thermostat, cleaned the EGR valve, bypassed the EGR, and updated the software. Time will tell if it really fixed it. I'll report back if it happens again.

I had the same thing happen as Skold they put in a warmer thermostat and EGR valve it fixed it so far I have 35 hrs on it now

I got mine new in January CK3510 same thing at 15 hrs. get a warmer thermostat and check that EGR valve, kioti should have a recall for this problem. The dealer fixed it for free, they know all about this they said they had three others with the same problem that week.

I was pretty set on getting a Kioti CK3510 or 4010 but now I'm getting a little concerned with all the regen/cel problems. It seems to only be happening in cold places/cold weather. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska and the tractor would be used in the cold (below zero temps) a lot and the closes dealer will be 350 miles away. I'm worried a little now.

Well they say you get what you pay for, but all tractors have this now after 2015, I don't know how much of this problem is from kioti or the dealerships, not preparing them, before they deliver them, I live in Maine, this tractor comes from South Korea, so you would think if your selling this tractor in northern part of he world they would prepare them for the cold. As much as you pay for them, you don't expect to have this problem. They are a nice machine, but now I know, I would make sure before they deliver it, that the dealership knows of this problem and will work with you, and make sure it's working properly before they deliver it. If I was going to buy another one, I would buy a older model kioti or a tractor made in the USA.

I think this is about zero the dealer's fault. It has nothing to do with improper dealer prepping I think. They get the tractors and have a protocol for receiving the tractors and prepping them and that comes straight from Kioti. This issue is simply a result of this tier-4 garbage over-complicating a machine and the manufacturer's sloppy design and testing of the system. Kioti themselves is still trying to figure this issue out and we as customers just have to take it in the rear for the time and expense of having our machines serviced over and over because of the issue. Kioti needs to fix this crap fast and for good and reimburse us for our mileage and time dragging our tractors to the dealer multiple times. Also, the govt. needs to get rid of these ridiculously complicated and costly regulations that make our machines expensive, more complicated, and unreliable. Hopefully, Trump can do something about that BS!

I needed my tractor when I got it. Unfortunately, it was only a few months after the pre-tier4 compacts inventory ran out and right as this tier-4 garbage came out. I KNEW I should have gotten one without the emissions garbage, even if it meant buying out of state and paying a markup. I am sure I will be paying way more $$$ over the life on this tractor just dealing with the tier-4 maintenance and issues alone.

If by some miracle this latest fix has solved the issue and I don't have any more issues like this, I can maybe be content overall as this does have some better capacities than the previous gen counterpart.

Get a used one without the tier-4 garbage I think. I wonder if Kubota's tier-4s are having a similar issue.

Hopefully, this latest actual repair will fix the issue for good and not cause any other issues. I'm hoping.

As far as the EGR valve, no it's not the dealer, but the cold, my tractor was delivered gelled up. Because they said the fuel that was in the tractor when their shipped from South Korea have summer fuel in it, it was January in Maine, you would think the dealer would know that, plus they need a warmer thermostat. After having my thermostat changed and the tractor put on a computer I haven't had any trouble, but it's warmer out now. Time will tell. they need to recall it, the amount of money I spent, over 25k, and only having 15hrs on the tractor, I expect it to run.

I agree! Next winter will be telling. If I have more winter issues, I'll be super PISSED!

I told my wife if it happens next winter that tractor will be turning green red or blue. Lol

Well, I don't blame you. I think Kioti will make good though. Someone near me has a 2011 DK45 on sale for about what I bought my CK4010HST for. Man, it is tempting to ditch this tier-4 crap for that one.

Oh yah a older one would be the way to go for now. but they have to fix it. and my dealer told me they know about this issue. and expect a recall any day now.

Great information and thanks for sharing. Please everyone keep sharing what they learn. Otherwise, I am not sure we'd ever find out.

Tier 4 rules were crammed down the throats of the manufacturers (and customers) by the omnipotent EPA. Maybe Kioti could have done a better job implementing it. Have other builders done better? I don't know. But seriously, considering the few gallons of Diesel fuel most of us burn, Tier 4 is a joke and the joke is on us.

And for slwelch: good luck finding an American-made utility tractor.
