Ads at top

Last few days there has been an ad at the top of the screen. I am not against advertising. But I think it is what is cause my typing to freeze, and having to click back into the post every few words. Some times not so bad. I am thinking if I am on the page long enough or it load before I type, not such a problem. Seems better today. Maybe it done installing data tracking, and running quicker now.

Not everyone lives in the city with high speed internet.

Trying to figure out if the ad is from this site, or a virus. Ad fits right inthe banner next to logo.

You might get more help/feedback if you could post a screenshot of the ad.

While I'd prefer to support the site through advertising, I had to install an ad blocker some months back, as the site was getting slow and the ads were annoying. It made a night and day difference. Until site owners and advertisers can figure out how to deliver ads that don't ruin my browsing experience, I guess I will need to run an ad blocker. When the ads consume much more %CPU than the actual content, I think that's a problem.

It does seem better since I did that. I still have an add, but not one with a movie in it.

I have been using "Ghostery", which has worked well. It will let me fine tune things to allow reasonable ads through.

I downloaded Adblock plus for my Firefox browser. No ads pop up now.

Problem is animated ads. Sites with talking ads tick me off.

Adblock plus is a free download for most browser programs. I'm using Firefox browser on an old Windows Vista laptop and Win 7 desktop. Both have Adblock plus and I get no ads, videos, pop ups etc.

Adblock worked. Fast to download. Going to donate a few bucks.

I still want to know, if it is the site or my computer. I am not against advertising. I know they need the money. Especially when you get on corporate sites.

Someone lost out, if the ads were not so bad, they would still be up.

The Ads are on this site and many other sites. Adblock is an add-on for the browser on your computer to help stop ads from interfering from any site. Since I started using Adblock its been pretty nice to view a site without the continual ads. I'm also using the old version of this site. A while ago they updated the site and offered a different format. I think that is still available but don't know where the post is located but they used to let you try it out and if you didn't like it you could switch back.

I'm old too but I think "Crickets" is a metaphor for what you hear when you broadcast your discontent into the night and the Deciders don't respond, for some reason.
