I think rustyshackelford is right, I remember reading about that in a piece of Kubota literature hoping that my tractor had this. No such luck, my tractor was the previous year. Nice feature! I pulled this off (internet) literature from a bigger Kubota

"Brake type: Hydraulically operated wet disc brakes, with automatic front axle engagement (4WD) (The front axle is engaged automatically for braking purposes when both brake pedals are pressed together, regardless of whether 4WD or 2WD is activated)"

Yep. I'm anxious to hear the answer. Are they the same model year? Obviously his is a '16. Sometimes model year gets a bit confusing, especially at a time when two model years could easily be on the lot together.

Let us know what you find out. :)

Next time it snows down in FL, slam on the brakes at about 10 mph in 2wd and see what you get

Uh oh, just remembered that the literature I first spoke about was for an M9540, and the on line one above is from a M135. Well the do offer it, on some models:confused3:

I'm going to say that both tractors are operating as designed, you can have the same model , but have changes in the design. Very common with tractors, when ordering a part you have to have the serial number because they have changed a design or a part in the middle of the series production.

I agree. I think this will be the technical answer to this issue? :)

I think Richard was on to something with one being electronic engagement. Does one have a Lever for 4wd and one have a rocker or switch? With the lever, it obviously wouldn't automatically engage but if it's electronic, that would be the ticket. I'm about 99.9% your tractor is operating as designed

All four wheel drive tractors with electro-hydaulic engagement will have this feature. It should only work with the brake pedals locked together. It is a safety issue so you have better braking especially with a front loader.
Some models with have the light come on with brakes others don't. Depends on the build date.
