For a little update on my latest blunders, go to the "OUCH" thread.

What I should do today is go to DMV & renew drivers license. Will I??? not sure yet, think about it for a while.
Really want some tomalies & need some fuel for my new addition. Nope its not Dope!!! Chocolate.
I do have enough beer & smokes, a big deciding factor.

DMV 75+ miles from here & Arbor Fright another 10 miles, should do both on same day.

Could spend several pay checks at HF, If I got every thing I would like to have. Should get batt for tractor/. so many decisions keep me confused. Lack of extra $$$ does not help. Friend Larry offered to buy tractor batt, but don't want to use $$ from another person.

Dog's friend sure makes me angry, could almost kill her. Left back brace & little pillow on back deck, not only did she make a mess. Stole little pillow, can mot find it any where. She wants in the house, as much destruction as she does outside, Sure have enough mess without her help.

cannons.jpg
2 Little cannons that I made out of brass. Small 1 is the right size for a cigarette filter. sure destroys them when it goes bang. About as loud as a 38 cal pistol
Larger 1 is the right size for the plastic worms used for packaging. When it goes bang, about as loud as 1/2 stick of dynamite.

car.jpg
craved little car about 1963/4 all by hand, no power tools. It was inspired by a friends son i Cub Scouts. Local PO helped me get the weight at max allowed by rules. It was a nice purple, somewhat messed up now. Don't know where rear axle went.
It was fun to play with, had it tuned to roll down a 3" wide board for about 4'.

OH 2.jpg - OH 3.jpg
Miniature out house Is number 2 & not finished yet. Number 1 was given away. The seat lifts up & I put a bunch of Tootsie Rolls under it. Door had a little magnet to hold it closed. May finish it someday.

bud clell judy.jpg
Dad, little sister & I. Back ground is dodge power wagon. Best truck I ever owned.

cody-me-xmas.jpg - cody-me-smoker-xmas.jpg

Happier times, Cody, myself & Christmas tree :)laughing:) Next is smoking a turkey, several folks said it was the best turkey they ever ate.

Enough for 1 posting. Keep those cards & letters coming. :D
8:01, here, must be 5 PM some place so its time for a beer.

Jim, seeing the photos of the old trucks brings back memories. In the late 60s, we make hay cubes with a portable cuber. I hauled a load of water (500gallon tank) using the '37 International to where ever they were cubing that day when I got home from school. I worked until midnight and headed home. Last week, I was able to make tentative agreement to acquire that truck... Many times when I drove it, the brakes were not working, learned to shift down and shut ignition off to stop.. Guess we were very fortunate to not have been killed with the shortcuts, but we did the best we could with what we had.

One thing I regret is not getting my hands on the 2-ton mid 60s Chevy crib truck we used to haul oranges to the market. It also had brake problems. Unfortunately, my uncle, in an apparent state of mental fatigue, gave the truck away. It was a straight 6, green with the farm name painted on the side. Also had 2 Farmall A tractors that he gave away. None of them, including the truck, were running but they were easy to work on and wouldn't have taken much effort to get operational.

Life goes on & on. At times no so sure I like it. As the song says, everyone wants to go to heaven, but not today.

Read the ouch thread for the latest in the water hose battle.

Dog's friend, at times (very very often) I would like to kill her. Think she may be teething, but not sure dogs loose the baby teeth. she is much more destructive than Bony ever was. & to top it off she is extremely high energy. She has chewed on steel coduit, a tree, dug out the old skunk from a long time ago, old bones, a dead hop toad, (that should have made her sick.).
yesterday it was clear plastic film, A little hunk of plastic that I had mixed epoxy on, handle off a wood paint brush, old glove, & attacked the water hoses. Chances are I missed a few things. Keeping her out of yard almost impossible.

White Great Northern beans. A total waste, no flavor, bad texture. Washed & soaked them, boiled for a few hours, added some ham, Patatos green onions, some garlic, canned corn, salt & pepper. More hours of boiling. At this point they can be chocked down. Gave some to Bobby, she picked out the ham, gave some to dog, he ate most everything except some corn. Pain in butt, ate the rest of the corn, carried plastic dish around & chewed on it.

Hawk came by yesterday, had not seen it in quit a while.

I am now a coupon clipper. Never in my life have I cut out coupons. The little wish book is all cut up. 20% off, special sales that need a coupon. & other things of interest

If it does not hurt, it itches, and or I have to pee. Just most anything to make life miserable. To day was a pain by appendix, not the first time, but worse this time & longer lasting. Sure hope it is a false alarm.

Been out of chocolate a few days ago, now out of bread & cheese, plus a few other little things. Just have not felt well enough to even put on real cloths.

tiles.jpg
The big tiles sort of look like a desert scene, they will be put on the cement board behind the old stove & grill. the thick red ones will go under everything.
Guess what the stick laying on them is & what its for. You will win nothing & second guess wins less.:D

Should do a lot of things, Drivers license mos important., some hoses, cement board . use coupons. Would really like to get tractor batt. But maybe next payday.

More later,
Jim

Not much going on worth talking about.

Sort of feel sorry for the next door mutt. Am sure she gets no training or love at home. Had she come around when younger maybe she could have been trained a little.
At present a real pain in the butt & thief. Put out a little hand made blanket, gone, little pillow that she brought back, gone again, 2 cool cups chewed up 1 & another that I can see & get back.

Need to get this typed before my mood changes. For some reason, it goes to he77 almost instantly. it may switch back in a Minuit or maybe not. Thinking about see a shrink at VA would like to figure out what is going on with my mind & body.

Appendix, was a false alarm, just bound up, i guess. (bothering me a little this AM.) Took a hand full of pain pills & it got worse for a while. Guy at VA said go t emergency. Called Doug to take me just in case. Took him a while to get here. But he brought me a real nice hunk of lumber. 1x12x6, almost clear, too nice to cut up for small shelves.

Butt is starting cooperate & getting cleared out. Actually slept pretty well last night,. Ignored pee thing & had a 3 hour sleep.
a big change.

Today if I keep feeling good will go get candy, bread & other little odds & ends. Just wish they had tomailes.

False spring??? It is too cool of a little next week with showers predicted on Sunday.
Does not make much difference, have 2 small propane tanks full & not really needed. Enough wood for a short cold snap.

Still not gotten Drivers license, want to have enough $$$ to go on to Arbor Fright. Think #1 on list is framing gun, if I don't get to distracted with the special coupons.

Dog is now part of the family, (& his friend wants to be), likes to be in the house, follows me around & usually comes when called. Not a bad old man. Some day he may even get in truck??

More happy & fun stories when things (ME) get straightened out.

Jim

I keep forgetting that I have a 1968 & 1970 Motors Auto Repair manuals. If one of you want them & is willing to pay postage they are yours. Be aware they are very heavy & postage will not be cheap. Will take pictures if you like.

When I was a kid a friend of my dad gave me an old Motor's manual, he'd probably gotten a later one. It had info on stuff most people haven't heard of, like a transmission diagram for a '37 LaSalle. I just took a look in my library and I do have a Motor's wiring diagrams for cars, it only goes up to 1954 so its fairly old. When a used bookstore closed up here a dozen or so years ago, they were giving away books to empty out the building, so I grabbed up every service manual they had, along with a pickup load of other books. Nowadays if I need something, I can usually find it in .pdf online

Hey Jim... make sure you are taking those pain meds with food... if not your stomach will feel much worse before before your other pains are masked. Maybe you can try your hand at being the new (or old) dog whisperer? :D Takes plenty of time and patience to correct bad habits... whether the dog's or our own!

WOW a Good night.
went to be early (before 6 PM) slept until after a 11 PM. Not slept like that in years. A little pee bout & back to sleep until almost 3 AM. Even a normal Poop.

Use to have another or some more Motors Manuals even older, may have sold or given them away. Don't think so, but could be here somewhere.

Basically learned to drive in a 1941 Chevy 3/4 ton PU. Earliest memory is at KP Seneca in the White Mountains.
Or maybe it was a 31 Model "A I bought when about 15. No drivers license. Drove all over anyway.
Never drove 1, but did ride in a Model "T" once. sort of a fun old car.
Bought a 30 Chevy, no body of any kind. Just seat, dash & steering wheel. Found some kind of an old body on the edge of town. Didn't really fit. Put 2x4s across frame & bolted body (1 seat type, no top) to them & to frame. It developed a rod noise, dropped oil pan & found 1 of the dippers had torn loose. Threw it away, pulled out some shims. That held up until it got wrecked. Wonder it did not kill all 3 of us. i was drinking with some Mexican friends & got pretty drunk saw Dennis & Jerry going back & forth past the Golden Bell. roar past 1 way then come back & do it again. Dennis said Jerry didn't know how to put the brakes on.
After several passes they finally pulled in. We started home, Dennis convinced me to let Jerry drive. Big mistake. I woke up a couple of times & got him back on the HWY. But later he went off a high bank. It must have turned upside down & dumped us all out before it hit bottom. I woke up in a lot of pain, Dennis was up on the hwy talking to some girls in a convertible. Jerry was laying there with his face buried in the sand. Turned him over, he looked dead. Got up the bank & after a little fight got in car with Dennis & some girls from Bisbee. When we got to town (Tombstone) we were taken to hospital & ambulance sent for Jerry. Something really dumb. My girlfriend was there holding my hand & nurse cutting off my shirt.
Thinking I was going to die, ask nurse for 1 last request. " Would she kiss me before I died. :D) am sure that made a hit with girlfriend. Only thing really wrong with Jerry was a cut in his toung. Dennis lived in St. Johns a few hundred miles away. Jerry & I hitch hiked to there. When we got there Dennis was in a full body cast. Broken back, Dr. said had he moved wrong 1 time he would have never walked again.

More to the story, but enough for 1 time.,
Jim

City boys and country boys.
City boys say, "oh schit this is gonna hurt!"
Country boys say, "hold my beer and watch this."

You are all lucky you didn't die.

Jim was watching a tv show of the 20 mule team narrated by Ronald Regan . and a comment was made about Tombstone Sherriff . Knowing your previous life as a deputy of tombstone. and was wondering if you knew of the John Slaughter ranch about 5 miles South of Tombstone. Just 65,000 acres and reached 100,000 while he worked as Sheriff.
All the names of outlaws and gamblers in the West must of came by during his heydays there.
Marshall Earp Doc. Holiday Ike Clanton Tom McLaury and shooting of William Clanton at the ok corral.

Always thought that The Clanton and riders came from south of Shakespeare New mex.so what started the shooting.
But then that was the days when the cowboys would ride to Prescott or El Paso for a night of whooping it up then be ready to ride the range again next day.
Little quite West of Tucson are you doing O'k

Like Spring time here .
