In the fields the pallets are perched,
Upward pointing with nary a lurch.
Questions abound, source not known.
Speculations like seeds wildly are thrown.
Placed by aliens from far in the sky?
Put there by farmers working on the sly?
Seen by some travellers during the day,
Speculated as storage maybe even hay.
Delighted by many and as confused as some.
This thread has been funny defintely not dumb!

After thinking back on the pallets in fields, pallet fires, pallets falling on people, pallets jumping off trucks, etc., I see one thing in common. All these pallets are unemployed and in groups. They are not doing the job they were designed for. They are all empty. They have no purpose in life.

I plan to keep mine busy holding firewood, and there will not be very many around to exert peer pressure.

But I still need to develop a plan to handle any rebellion.

Bruce, I commend you for taking action to help pallets rediscover a purpose. Jobs, jobs, jobs... hopefully others will join you and help keep them off the streets, hanging around in back alleys or behind Home Depot stores, pretty much begging for honest work.

When I was finally able to move here to "Wagtail Park" I was in desperate need of pallets in order to store boxes of 'stuff' on, out in the wood-shed, to keep them off the ground and any moisture. I scoured the town for unwanted pallets and every one that I found were invariably located as you describe.

It brings a tear to my eye to think where these pallets would've ended up had I not been able to provided them with honest work... a purpose... dare I say, a home.

It was about half a score ago that I knew this pallet when I worked in a low income housing complex.

It was a very handsome pallet, he never bothered anyone and I tied him on the side of the building outside because I was gonna give him a new home and adopt him.

Well later that night I forgot to untie him and just went home, I accidentally left him there all night. when I retuned the next morning the local gang of bubble blowers decided they didn't like the way that innocent pallet looked leaning against the building all alone and jumped him! Broke EVERY board in his body. Sadly I had to put him down soon after I got in to work that next day.

I gave the eulogy when we tossed him in a dumpster like a piece of garbage.

Utt Ohhh I see how this is "stacking" up. I'm sensing some sympathy on behalf of the pallet world. I agree they can be be re-purposed into things useful such as rocking chairs or other furniture but in their original form we know little about them. When captured and interrogated they only squeak and never talk.

Surely there must be training tapes or DVD's available for pallets to view that can be used for training purposes. Don't pallets get continuing ed or something like that?
