Sears Selling Craftsman Brand

Hmmm... every Sears in every mall I've been to has had the tool department on one end of the store and I can always get a parking spot closer than at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc... I never have to go inside the mall.

Right you are MossRoad, I do the same. In fact, I always enjoyed the tool area where I would browse and look over the tractors and power equipment. I "outgrew" the Sears tractors years ago, moving up to Kubota but it is still fun to look at. Also, for many years I bought clothing on sale at Fathers Day sales.

Not so much now, Lowes and Ace has all I could ever need. Too bad about Sears though, I used to go there for almost anything.

I think the Sears/Mall relationship has little or nothing to do with us. I also think the products we go to Sears for is a small percentage of their mercantile. For us oldtimers, going back to the Seasonal catalogs, what percentage of those catalog pages contained the products we are talking about here?? Very small percentage indeed. So the death of Sears has little to do with their deteriorating tool selection specifically. Although that's a part of the overall problem.

Their brick and mortar stores were catering to the woman shopper, not us. And I know all of us are guilty of killing time perusing the tool section while the wife shopped in the Mall. And 90% of the time we made no purchase. But she did.

I used to go there for almost anything.

Used their Diehard car batteries for decades, they were the best. Last time I set foot in a Sears store (10 years ago) they didn't even have any car batteries in stock! The guy said he could order one but it would take 2 weeks. That was it, walked out of the store never to return.

My wife dislikes the mall as much as I do. She does like Yankee candles and will go in for the sales, that's about it though.

True. They somehow screwed up when they bought Lands End though. My wife used to buy from them before Sears bought them but something changed after.

Used to be good quality clothes that had a good variety of my wife's size...petite. Not so sure about them now. Lands' End | Coats, Dresses, Sweaters, Gifts & More

We buy lands end. Nice you can do returns at Sears.

I was raised in clothes from Sears. Mainly Levi blue jeans. Seams they had a program that if you could wear out a pair of their jean before you out grew them then they'd give you a new pair. Being a slow growing boy my parents got their money's worth out of that program. Some stores would even let you go up one size. This would have been during the 80's and early 90's.

I don't know "Lands End"??

Here's their history... we used to buy really nice sweaters and outdoor wear from them. Good hiking shoes, too. Haven't purchased from their catalog in many, many years. I think they are no longer owned by Sears.
