Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

/ Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck #6,741
I see General Tool items for sale in many places and they are still the respectable quality I recall. They apparently make tools, sell them where they can and the relationship with HF is arm's length. If this make and buy America things keeps gaining, I bet we'll see a lot more at HF.

But are General tools and HF US General branding the same thing? :scratchchin:

I just looked up annual sales for Harbor Freight and it looks like they have $2.4 billion with a "B".
Is this amount even possible?

Access Denied

EDIT--oops. Just type "annual sales for Harbor Freight" and it will come up.

That's $10k per store per day not including online sales. Sounds reasonable to me.

I just wanted my free batteries.
HF's alkalines are fine, I buy them as needed. I think these are the least expensive alkalines available anywhere.

But I once chose the 'free with purchase' conventional AA batteries and those were useless. I suspect they diverted that batch to Free because the first ones sold from that shipment all came back for refund.

Impact sockets, impact "universal joints", 5 in 1 screwdrivers, combo wrenches, socket rails, tape measures, floor jacks, bottle jacks, oscillating multi-tool, and many other items. I picked up a slick item the other day called an impact flip socket for light vehicle lug nuts. Comes with a double ended metric socket, a double ended inch socket and a 1/2" drive x 3" impact extension. Will try it out this spring at tire rotation time.

I have one of those double-ended sockets on a long-nose HF air impact wrench. Works fine. Very handy.

I have the HF flip wheel lug socket set too and also a Tekton one. The Harbor Freight version was cheaper but it only has 4 sizes, and the Tekton has 6 (you also get 17mm and a 7/8") so except for that and the storage case that also came with the Tekton I can't see any real big differences in the sockets themselves they both the same exact length and they are both Cro-Mo

So what's the best price anyone has seen on those? I think paid like $12.99 but I may have seen it lower than that since.

Is Tekton sold at Harbor Freight? If so, I wish I'd seen them first because my truck takes a 7/8" socket for the lug nuts.

No Tekton brand of tools are not at HF, but you can find this specific item along with other Tekton tools on Amazon or even HD online. Home Depot is a Tekton distributor nowdays as is the Tractor Supply Store. Its slightly more money about $1.00 :D at TSC but they also have a free shipping to home offer right now.

I also use 7/8" often.

Any how if the HF sizing covers what someone needs it's a good deal.

Here is one of the best "don't suck" buys I can recall and at the lowest price I have seen in years. It has to be the strong dollar that's lowering import prices and it makes a yuuge difference.

Anyway, this toolbox is the best I have ever owned and comments in this thread compare them favorably to toolboxes that cost many multiples of it's price. It's this US General and is $300 until Jan 22, 2017. The price shows in the on line coupon/sale thing I get in the mail. The $300 price shows in that link.

26 in., 16 Drawer Glossy Red Roller Cabinet Combo

If you do buy one, I suggest in person because the shipping box is typical Chinese card-press-board and dents are common and can be hidden. I unwrapped mine in the store and then accepted it. Mail order would probably not work. It's a great buy for $300 and I really like mine.

I just picked up a HF 1000 lb motorcycle lift yesterday. Have not used it as of yet but for 275.00.... how could I say no. It looks fine for what I will be using it for. I don't think it would hold up for commercial use.

At least around here you can find them at the other local chinese tool stores . Amazon is probably the best place. I love their screw drivers and impact sockets.. As for that set of lug nut adapters / short extensions that is another item that I never heard of yet now couldn't live without. Fantastic

Bought a 18" hand saw with wood handle. Nice little saw, could use just a bit more set in the teeth.
Only wish I had gotten the 22".

also got a brad nailer, works real well, a little too strong for some things. Got pressure regulator, but have not hooked it up yet.

Found new use for this:

3 Oz Super Lube(R) Grease

I think I bought a tube of this a long time ago for my lathe because I was tired of getting black molly grease on me.

Well, needed to change a car battery and I couldn't find my dielectric grease for the battery terminals so I looked over the SuperLube bottle and it is basically silicone and is a good dielectric grease so that's what I used.

Fast forward a few weeks and I'm doing maintenance on our Reverse Osmosis system, I needed some food grade silicon grease for the o-ring seals and couldn't find where I put that either last time I used it ... so I scan the SuperLube bottle as I thought I remembered seeing a "NSF" logo on it ... sure enough, it's NSF H1 rated! So SuperLube to the rescue again!

FYI

Here's the best price I've seen on the highly regarded red stackable tool cabinet. I bought one after the favorable reviews here and it is excellent quality. I got this coupon in an email flier from them but it's only good for a couple of days. It would be on their website too, I would guess. It's rare to see them under $340 and this is $299.

I had to print the bottom barcode because it wouldn't attach to the upper portion. Best to print an original from their site but it seems these two together should work if you buy one.

It's BACK and CHEAPER!

Note - no barcode, when I clicked on the ad it just took me to the "regular" $380 price.

The $298 price is the lowest, and $300 is darn good.
