Sears will still be selling Craftsman tools in their stores after the sale to Stanley.

Well, with Sears selling the brand to Stanley, perhaps the quality will go UP to where it USE TO BE, and then I'll have to quit calling it crapsman!

Stanley is HQ'd a little ways from me. They also own DeWalt, so hopefully they will improve the quality of Craftsman.

Craftsman was the "go to" brand for the average "Joe" who did not need nor could afford brands such as Snap On or Mac. Over the years, I would watch for their sales to add more tools to my inventory. These days, there are so many offerings such as those from Lowe's and HD plus bargain basement HF. Not only that but the days of fixing one's cara are long gone for many.

local ACE sells craftsman tools. Most sears stores around me have closed. Most Kmart stores have closed. Never shopped K mart much. They didn't carry guns or ammo.

There is one sears store close by, but I think it's a franchise type store . I was told it isn't owned by sears.They sell appliances lawnmowers, tv's etc,. It's just a little country sears store. Nothing big

I don't know if it's so much that times have changed. I think sears had a lot to do with their failure

The craftsman line was made by Stanley/BlackDecker/Dewalt* anyway so not much will change other than they* have added another Brand name to their shed.

*an in depth search will shock you as to the many many brands they own and or make.

I'll bet Harbor Freight is tapping into their business. If you're going to buy chinese junk, you might as well buy cheap chinese junk. I will say that Harbor Freight ratchets are leaps and bounds better than Craftsman these days.
