Dirt Moving Pulled my first stump with my new to me KX121

I agree. When I start digging out a sizeable tree I have no expectations of a timeline. It will take however long it takes. :)

Agree - if I get it out quickly I feel like I "won."

Its funny how some trees fool you. I have dug some smaller tress that were a bear to get out and a few weeks ago I took down a 20" round oak in 30 minutes, couldn't believe how easy it was. Next oak may take all day - just depends on so many different things. Looks like you are doing some major digging and clean up around your place. Sure is nice to have a capable machine handy!!

It's only just the beginning of my projects, rest of my days probably won't be long enough, lol.

Boy is this machine handy. Pulled out and stumped a dozen overgrown Christmas trees, maple, brush and briars. Reclaiming the area around the little old garage.

The trees in the last picture are now out.

I like your wagon for collecting the wood chips.

Last year I cleared a small area of a lot of small trees and experimented with using the mini-ex to feed the trees into the chipper. It actually worked really well. I pulled all the trees with the mini ex, then went around and cut off the stumps. Then used the KX121 to pick and feed them into the chipper, which gobbled them up whole. If I were loading by hand I would have had to cut most of the trees into shorter lengths to be able to lift them. Chipping whole trees was SO much faster and easier. Those Salsco chippers are really quite good.

It's a great little chipper, I picked up the Salso 826 used this year. I had a Salso 627XT, which I sold after picking up the 826. I like the 826 much better, and I came out $800 ahead on the deal.

Interesting. I've got the 627XP. What is it about the 826 that you like more?

I guess the consensus is that my ripper on the bucket idea is not a good idea in that it won't be effective or could cause damage.

James - I placed this video on TBN some time ago. There were a number of comments re damage to the tractor using this trencher on the bucket. I don't know how many have tried the idea after looking at the video but the number of views probably indicates repeat viewing (over 150K views so far). I don't recall any youtube comments about trying the technique and causing damage. Anyway here's another look. I guess I can say "you be the judge".

Interesting. I've got the 627XP. What is it about the 826 that you like more?

The feed table is straight off the back on the 826, as opposed to offset on the 627XT. It was the biggest thing for me, as I use it a lot along the stone walls and field edges. The 826 feed table is also flat, as opposed to angled downward on the 627XT (was initially a gravity fed chipper, Salco added hydraulic feed, didn't change design). Feed opening is 6x12 on 826, feeding is easier. Feed speed is controlled off the forward/reverse handle on the 826, as opposed to just forward/reverse on 627XT with flow control valve not reachable while feeding. 826 also has PTO driven pump for feed, which didn't matter to me. The 826 is $2500 more new, but in my situation used, I came out $800 ahead. I like the 627XT, it's a nice chipper, I just prefer this other one much more after running it prolonged.
