Im band new to the tractor world. I recently bought a home that came with a Massey Ferguson 230. I plan to use this to cut the large yard. I have started and driven the tractor but can not get the 3 point to drop or move.
I reviewed the manuals and see the there is an inspection plate on the right hand side where the dip stick is at. I have started removal of this but have no clue what todo once I get it off. One of the bolts is currently stuck. I have been spraying with PB Blaster.

I'll try to get some picture posted.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Why did you start there? I would wait a day or two and see if someone can help you.

I will wait before going any further. i hope someone will provide some insight. Plus Im not sure how i will get the rusty bolt at the 2o-clock" position out.
I have been soaking it. It looks like it may be a recessed flat head bolt.

Have you stood (or placed weight on) the 3 point lift arms and then moved the control to the lower position? It may simply be a case of the lift arms not having enough weight to overcome the friction/rust of not being used. The lowering of a 3-points arms is by weight/gravity and not by power

I don't know if that old tractor has it, but many tractors have a "rate of descent" control valve which is usually directly under and in front of the seat. The knob on this valve can be screwed in to completely shut off the oil flow and the 3 PH will not go down even if you have a heavy implement attached.
Before doing anything else, look for this control valve and turn it counter-clockwise a few rounds to release the lift arm cylinder oil. IF this valve is closed with the arms in the down position, the lift wont raise either.

Ditto that.. make sure there is not a 3pt valve lock.. many are under the seat or somewhere ont he top cover, past that, as another poster said. bushings may be crusty, and the arms may just be 'up' from sticking.

try both options, get back with us.
