I made a subframe almost like the backhoes. Mounted a plate on that. And then extended the plate forward of the front axle where I then made a hinge. The rest of the plate is hinged here where it is lifted up and mounted to a few pieces I have mounted ont the front bumper. It's bolted here. So I can remove two bolts there, pull the two one inch pins and drive ahead two inches an the plate is off. One minute. And a lot of peace of mind

I built 6 of these handy bins last spring when the heating season was about over. They are all full and ready to go.

My bins are built using 40"x48" pallets and 16' x 50" cattle panels from TSC. I bent the panels into a square, trimmed off the extra and welded the corners. I then using fencing staples to hook them to the pallets. The empty bins weigh about 75 lbs. I figure each one holds 0.28 cords. I started by carefully stacking wood in them which is about 1600 lbs of hardwood. Without a counterweight on the back, my rear wheels got pretty light! I went to throwing the wood in after that. Thrown in like it is should be about 1150 lbs of wood.

This thread is not very active anymore. Is no one cutting wood since it is warm?

Went deer hunting with my youngest son this morning. He was teasing me, said I was tree hunting not deer hunting. Gotta multi-task, I told him. Found several easily accessible locust, Ash, and poplars I hope to harvest, and will share here... when I get the time.

I'm on vacation until the 8th. Be back to cutting after that. Before we left I was doing a lot of thinning in an area that'll get new sap tubing installed later this winter. I was mostly still in the pre-tractor phase of the project, but here's a picture of my first load on my new log wagon. The tractor isn't hitched up, but you can imagine where it goes. rps20161127_145742_554.jpg
