This is what I found.
US States and Territories Without DST. States and territories in the United States that do not observe daylight saving time, aside from most of Arizona, include: Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Some parts of Indiana did not observe daylight saving time in the past.

I don't know about NOW, but Arizona used to not participate in the DST nonsense. In 1995 I was working for a company out of Georgia doing gas leakage surveys. Early that year, on DST, I was working in different towns in Texas. I worked alone and neither my company nor my customers cared what hours I worked. Being an early riser, I started each day as soon as it was light enough for me to read a gas meter number without a flashlight. And then I was sent to a job on the eastern edge of Arizona. They wanted one of their employees to go with me each day, so that meant not starting until later. And of course they were not on DST, so it felt to me as if I had to sit around until 10 a.m. every morning before going to work.

I could be wrong, but I was thinking there was somewhere in the states, near the EST-CST boarder that didn't change time.

Half the year they would follow central time, the other half they would be on eastern time.

Florida panhandle somewhere? Or it might have been Indiana somewhere????

Where I live, I think the majority would just prefer to stay on DST all year. In the summer, daylight is something like darn near 6am to almost 9pm.

In the winter, with the change back, daylight is something like 730ish to 530ish.

If we just stayed on DST, so what it wouldn't get light out til 830am......I'd take that to have it STAY light out til like 630p, instead of 530p. Dark at 530 is just too soon IMO

I am in Indiana and it sucks here as well. Three miles north of me is Central Standard Time or we call it slow time and it is Eastern Standard Time were I live. The town east of me is slow time but attend a school this is fast time so they just use fast time even though the map says slow. The cell phone towers locations change our cell phone time as it wants .I can leave home at 7 am and drive 5 miles north to arrive at 6:15 am and that sounds handy until you make a hour and fifteen minute drive home. When asked what time is it ? it can take a whole minute to figure it out.You cant trust your tablet or phone and you probably dont know how to change the clock in the car for the last five years. I think this is why they always use Indiana as the place on TV shows when it is about Peculiar people. LOL

Having a state that divides up whether to use DST or not seems really dumb. Even dumber than DST itself. Which is pretty dumb.

<snert> Whereas the looooooong days of Summer are just around the corner for me. :dance1:
You're really askin' for it, Wagtail!

It's the only way ever devised to get the lazy slugs out of bed an hour earlier in the morning. The sensible thing would be to start work a half hour after sunrise. When the sun rises at 5:30, work should start at 6:00. Sadly, that will never happen. 7:00 is better than nothing, so we change the clocks to fool people. It works.

Why not just change it 30 minutes and leave it alone? It will only affect everyone a little bit once and likely go unnoticed. Is a half hour of light or dark really going to make that big of a difference?

This is what I would like to see done. Split the difference and let it ride!

<snert> Yeah, and come Spring you'll have to work 11 hours one night. :confused3:

I reckon all of you N.A. grumblebums are just ticked 'cause this is a sure sign that Winter is almost here... there's no going back to the halcyon days of Summer.

Whereas the looooooong days of Summer are just around the corner for me. :dance1:

I took a look at St Helens on the Google map and looked at pictures, your holding back mate , you could be giving us yanks bucket fulls of berries. That looks like a south seas Island fairy tale . Your worst day in the winter probably means you put on a long sleeve shirt over your singlet. I am jealous, the white sand on that beach would be all the white I would need for Christmas. good day from just another ticked grumblebum :drink: ricks thermometer.jpg

Bugger! You're on to me!!!

Yeah, the worst temperature I had to endure this past Winter was during an odd morning frost... -1C. It looked pretty for about an hour until it warmed up for the rest of the day.

I love that temp-gauge pic!

Had a similar problem....almost got to -1C. But with a Super-human effort on my part was able to roll over and pull the covers up.
