So far from what I read, the Jonsered crowd is awfully quiet and I have two that's 10 years old, guess I'm a crowd of one.

Edit, or we'r all watching the ball game, go Cubs
Can't say I've owned a Jonsered, but have not heard anything bad about them either. If it's not a quality product, the arboristsite.com folks won't cut it any slack.

Jonsered is owned by Husqvarna. Or they're both owned by the same company. Poulan too, by the way. Jonsered used to make their own saws, and they made some very good stuff. Now it's just red colored Huskys with a different handlebar angle. For example, the 346xp is aka the cs2153, 372xp is the 2172, the 562xp is the 2260 (although the 2260 takes a small mount bar). I'm sure there's more crossover, those are just the ones I know offhand.

"Jonsered is owned by Husqvarna. Neat car, eh?

Here's one you can get that's slightly used....

Here you have a clear case of distracted driving, although at their price, the car is probably water proof........

Think the only chainsaw US made is Stihl and my 550xp will walk all over my son's 1 year old Stihl MS291, with a dull chain, and why is Stihl still making their chains with 2 same links on one side.............

Stihl makes saws in the US and Germany. Who knows maybe other places too. As far as two of the same cutters in a row, that's a function of bar length. There are some loops that will have two of the same cutters in a row because of the total number of links. It has absolutely nothing to do with who made the chain.

Not always. They were separate companies with different models until Electrolux bought them both at the end of the 70s.

The 550xp is a pro saw. The MS291 is a mid range saw.

My Husqvarna 353 will out cut a MS291 and its also a mid grade saw. The rated HP is slightly lower, but it weighs 2 pounds less. Regardless of the rated power it out cuts the 3 MS291s that family members have.

Every time I have cut side by side with a Husky I have outcut them. I don't think it proves anything because I used to cut professionally. Husky and Stihl are both good brands. Both have weak and strong spots in their lineup.

Very true. Also, you bring up a good point. A farm boss,, or a wild thing for that matter, with a sharp chain will beat the biggest, most expensive saw on the market if it's got a dull chain. Understanding what makes a sharp chain, and learning how to create one is the absolute most important part of a fast cutting chainsaw.

IMO, the 029, MS290, MS291 has always been a turd in the stihl lineup. And always their most popular saw too:confused2: Never understood that.

Some people just want a reliable saw. I've never ran one but unless someone is cheap, super cheap they can get a quality made saw. Maybe not the best performer but people must like it if it sells.

Mr. See owned a saw. And Mr. Soar owned a seesaw. Now See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw before Soar saw See, which made Soar sore. Had Soar seen See's saw before See sawed Soar's seesaw, See's saw would not have sawed Soar's seesaw. So See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw. But it was sad to see Soar so sore just because See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw!

What brand was See's saw?

I'm not sure you can get a new 550Xp for $500...

A few weeks ago, I was at a sawmill/firewood EXPO, and there were a few venders there selling 550xp's for $500.00...

Anyway, here's what I bought a while back, and I love it!

Switching it over to 3/8's chain, made a real saw out of it! lol
