Hello s219,

I am doing the rear remote installation on my L3800 today. Going great with your early inputs. I have a 3rd function valve installed. Now I am trying to determine the best routing for my hoses. Do you have any suggestions?

Should I tee my input line into my FEL or run from 3rd function PB to my rear remotes in a continues loop?

I went from my FEL to the remote manifold, then back to my 3rd function. Just worked the best with the supplied hoses.

It really depends on the types of valves -- if they can pass the PB loop then order isn't so important and I'd let convenience dictate. I'd prefer keeping one continuous PB loop myself, rather than using a tee. Only requirement is that the 3-pt hitch be last in line before the tank.

What's your reasoning for this requirement?

Or are you saying because it must be, as dictated by the tractors design?

3pt hitches typically dump straight to the tank internally & have no PB output that is usable.

Also, you can't T a PB loop. It needs to be a loop or it won't work. Read up on Power Beyond & open center hydraulics. There are a ton of good posts on here explaining it & how it works.

Which is what my understanding was, but the comment I inquired about was kind of counter intuitive as most 3 point cylinders aren't just required to be last, but are necessarily last by design.

I did not tee my PB line. My PB route; FEL -> rear remotes -> 3rd function valve -> tank

My kit just arrived and plan to install in the next week or two, I want to thank S219 for this post, it sure is gonna be helpful, as Kubota still has all the instructions with the errors mentioned.

It interferes when the 3 point control lever is in the "up" and the remote lever is operated in the "down" direction.

They meet end to end so that neither can achieve full range of motion within their own operational ranges.

I'm going to have to remove the remote control lever and bend it to make it all work without interference, which after all the other issues, is not surprising in the least.

Did you ever resolve this? I seem to have the same issue....

It clears (barely)if you push it all the way driver side in the track.

I did not, and actually, your controls seem to have been revised, as mine are round and cannot be operated to one side or the other of the 3 point control.

I'm guessing they now make them flat so that they can at least have full range of motion without interference, though they are still very awkward to operate, it would seem.

Indeed. Tractor has been back in at the dealer because the float valve they installed doesn't stay in float. Turns out the install caused the lever to contact something else (prob referenced in the install here) and was impossible for the valve to go into float.

Anyways, while it was there and they had a Kubota rep coming to look at something else, they had him look at mine too. I had also asked them to see if they could sort out the contact/interference issue between #3 lever and the 3pt position lever. I got a call back today asking if they could cut down the 3pt lever to resolve the interference. I told them sure as long as:
1) I can still reach it from the seat without bending
2) can still easily reach it off the tractor while hooking up implements
3) still have enough leverage for fine adjustments.

He said he'd talk to the service guy about those things.

I wouldn't go for cutting the 3pt lever.

I'd bend the remote levers, all to the left, eliminating the interference.

Hope you both find a solution.

Bending the remote levers was also an option. They were worried about something with that. I don't recall what it was though.

I haven't heard a definitive answer back about their solution, so that might still be the way forward too.

Kind of late to the show and haven't read the whole thread. Just last few post, but is there any way for you to swap the levers on remotes 1 & 3. That seems like it would solve the clearance issues from the pictures.

I asked that. The answer I got was no.

That said, I didn't tear into it personally to see if it was or wasn't, so Im taking the dealerships word on it.

Only having the pic to view, it looks lile swapping those two would put all three knobs in the same space.

I also understand the concern about bending all three. If you put too much lateral bend in the lever it applies twist forces to the swivel point which could caused rough or difficult movement.

With all that said, what have you got to lose?

They cut the 3pt lever and welded in an angled piece to bring it back up to the same height.

Hope to get it back today. Will post pics.

Yep, I thought of that alteration. I did that to my trans range lever on my Kubota to make it more accessible.

In your case, this moves the knob forward. Will it now be too far forward for comfortable use when lowered??

Have to agree, such simple things to produce properly and are missed. This happens will ALL the different manufacturers on simple things as these control levers. I have come to the conclusion that most of the time it is simple due to the people designing are just that, designers and not end users.

I have pointed similar type things out to factory reps, as to why is this like this on one tractor and different on the next when the better way of doing it is actually less money. Again, I believe it is because they simply do not know or understand because they are not end users.
