Will some tractor makers not survive?

This is kind of off topic compared to the last few posts, but it goes with the thread.
What ever happened to Ford Tractors? If my memory is accurate, didn't they sell to Fiat or something and become New Holland? I grew up on Ford tractors and have always loved them, and a lot of the older New Holland models are exactly like the Fords. Although I overheard some older fellas talking a few days ago, and one guy was saying that LS was an off branch of Ford? I tried to do some research but all I found was a bunch of different views and opinions on the whole timeline so I thought maybe some of yall would know better?

That seems to be common misconception, maybe because LS is blue just like the old x000 series Fords and the New Holland. Yes Fiat assumed the ownership of FORD tractor and they kept the design which is common when someone takes over a company (at least for a while).

Just a couple days ago, I had a guy looking at my LS and asking if it was a Ford copy. Since there isn't a lot of things you can do to change the looks of a tractor, many of them look pretty similar with only paint being the difference.

Lots of none TBN members never heard of LS which is a bad thing and LS needs to do more advertising to show who and what they are. Now my guy had heard of LG (the parent company) which does say a thing or two about them.

As for tractor mfg. going under or consolidating, that is the way of business, adapt or die. No one can predict with accuracy the future of markets, if they could they would be SSSOOO rich from the stock market.

You might want to educate yourself a little more. People think that because NH used to have LS build their "Boomer" (and I think some of the Workmaster) series of tractors for them.

Hi Folks, I'm seeing lots of talk and confusion over which New Holland Boomers match up to which LS models, so thought I'd start a thread to hopefully clear things up.

But first....
New Holland does NOT build tractors for LS Tractor USA....it's the other way around.... LS builds tractors that New Holland rebrands and sells in the USA.

NH = LS
Boomer 20 = J2020H
Boomer 25 = J2030H
Boomer 30 = R3039* w/ 28.5hp engine from older I3030
Boomer 35 = R3039
Boomer 40 = R4041
Boomer 50 = R4047

*The R3039 is an updated version of of the 2009-2010 I3040 (new hood cosmetics, fender-mounted joystick, telescoping lift arms). There was also an I3030 with all the same features as the I3040, but a lower output 28.5hp 4cyl Mitsubishi motor. In 2011 LS updated the I3040 to the R3039, but decided not to carry forward with an updated I3030 or "R3029".... they do still make it for New Holland however, and that's the Boomer 30.

Are they identical? No, IIRC the LS tractors had a little more lift capacity on the loader and a few other differences, but most parts can be swapped from one to the other.

I too grew up on Fords. My 1984 is labeled Ford but stamped made in Great Britain.

As a child and young man tractors were John Deere, International Harvester, Oliver (had a dealer locally), Massey Ferguson, Allis Chalmers, Ford. Of those six, four are gone. So anyone that can predict what brands will be here in another 50 years has a special touch. :)

more importantly, most of our LS New Holland's are running ISM engines now which are far quieter and smoother running than the Mitsubishi's they had been using. At the beginning the two tractors where basically identical, but they seem to be diverging more and more all the time.

I'd offer that the newer engines are quieter because of the common rail engines and, to a degree, the emissions stuff (baffling the exhaust).

I have clattery old TDIs, IDIs (truck, B7800 and Polaris Brutus [Yanmar engine]) and the Kioti that I'm getting is almost disturbingly quiet.

Deere is still here
Oliver bought out Massey
IH, case and ford merged with fiat
I think AC is completely gone

True... That's where Agco Allis came from, and Agco tractors are now all Masseys...as Agco owns the Massey brand. (along with many others)
