The DK series could still be a contender at ~63" min. width, but the MX is too wide and 2WD K-series is exactly 66" wide with R1s (per brochure). Width specs will have to be manually verified, but the big spec that stood out to me was your 3PH lifting capacity.

Safely and comfortably carrying 1500+ lbs on the 3PH and pulling wider/heavier implements puts some of the smaller CUTs into the "barely" or "ain't gonna do it" range. Your unique situation literally and figuratively narrows the options. After buying too big, I'm personally concerned about too small... if there is a compromise, would rather it be paying a little more for can vs. can't do.

P.S. you forgot the engines for all the little tools like weed trimmer, chainsaw, rototiller, chipper/shredder, pressure washer, and maybe a generator, etc.! Agree, they add up and would be nicer to have one a single power source and multiple interchangeable implements. Somebody wiser once cautioned that frankentool may do everything ok but nothing well... so now my bank account is smaller and storage/maintenance needs are bigger for a bunch of low hour engines and single purpose tools.

it's not quite as extreme as it seems because the transplanter has wheels that help support the weight, but some 3 point lift assist is necessary to level the thing out, and if you are going over some gnarly terrain, it would actually be advantageous to be able to lift the whole thing off the ground with the 3 point lift. Luckily it's flat as a pancake around here so that hypothetical doesn't come up too much.

Here's what we're talking about: Water Wheel Transplanter Farming Equipment :: Rain-Flo Model 16

I have a Branson 4520R with R4 tires it's 64" wide, with R1''s it would be less. This same frame size is available with a 35hp engine. That would be suitable for your PTO needs. The Branson is substantially heavier than most other brands, much of what you're doing is really draft work and weight = traction...

Get the loader and a set of forks you'll be glad you did!

I had a kubota for years and was happy with it, new property, new needs, new tractor. I shopped them all. Branson won out partly because it's simpler, less electronics etc.

oh sure, I want 30" or a bit more straddling width between the front and rear inner tire walls to be able to straddle my 30" wide 8" high raised market garden beds. probably 27-30+ hp diesel, maybe a bit more if hydrostastic. Loader not needed, will be running 3 pt plows, cultivators, 48" rototiller, 8 row corn/large seed planters, 5 ft tandem disc, BUT I have a started plant trays transplanter that holds about 100 gallons of water and is heavy duty steel carrying two adults, it's fairly heavy and it requires hydraulic remote outlet support for lifting the hole making dibbing/watering wheel. I've gotta think the implement weighs 1500 lbs or so with the water tank filled up. Also I'm interested in pulling a 12 ft ground drive seed drill and running an older pull type small (5-10 ft header) pto combine for growing some small heirloom grains.

Maybe I am not understanding what what the implements are. I live in farm country. When I hear 8-row corn planter and 12' drill......Im thinking there is no way a 27-30HP tractor is gonna pull that.

Around here, those things are pulled with 100+HP 10,000#+ tractors that cost 150k. And probably 4 gallons of fuel per hour +. If those could be pulled by a 30hp/3000# machine that cost 20-30k, and only drin 1 gallon per hour, wouldnt we see more of it?

You may want to consider checking the specs on that 12' drill. You will be needing more like 60 HP for that and even more if it's a no till

I just can't agree bc they're old implements and ground driven. We ain't into no till around here. And My landlord used a farmall H gas to do the corn with one of those old JD 8 row units, that's like a 27HP gas which should be even less pulling power than the same HP modern gear driven diesel

ETA: MY BAD IT'S A 4 ROW CORN PLANTER. Anyway i don't think I'll be going for more than 35-40 hp so just interpret that as "he will find the right size implement for his tractor...he is not farming large acreages and really how small the implement is doesn't affect his time a whole lot one way or the other"

Don't confuse hp with traction. Many older 2wd tractors will out pull newer 4wd units simply because they weigh 5000lbs. All the horsepower in the world won't do any good if you are spinning the tires.

Newer high hp FARM tractors weighing 15,000lb + need duals to put the power down and not compact the soil. That high hp let's them pull implements at higher speed, but only if they have the traction

I'll guess that the Farm all H weighed 4000lb. If you want to pull the same implements you will need a tractor near that weight.

A farming friend told me once that HP is for PTO applications or Speed, weight is for pulling.

It's all good NC419N was right it was a 4 row JD corn planter not 8. But for the amount of land I'm working with a 2 row wouldn't be a big hindrance. Maybe 3 acres it's not a big deal

Spot on. That Farmall H was really made for 1 thing......pulling.

Modern tractors, especially in the 27-30 or even up to 40HP range are made to do may things.

I own a modern ~4000# tractor with 51HP. And can tell you....I would not want to chain drawbars to an H. Them tall 38" tires with 4000# have more traction than my 26" tires with the same weight setting on them.

What about the grain drill now? You were mistaking on the 8 row planter and it turned out to be a 4-row.....so what is the grain drill in reality?

All I can go by is the specs listed by the Manufactures Below. Here is an 8' Great Plains Drill That I was considering. My local dealer has a 12' and we looked up the specs on it and they recommended 60 for it. I would just like to have a little more weight than what the CK3510 Or CK4010 would offer. There is something to be said for Shear Mass The one thing that older tractors have is that.
