Just got a new trailer, and may be in trouble with GVWR. Advice needed.

Do US DOT authorities actually examine equipment ratings? I believe ours, basically only look to see you are paying appropriate tax, to pull any given weight. That and safety issues. Lights, tires, straps.

You guys never mention what it costs (down there) to license decent load carrying equipment. I find THAT the cost factor, not the trailer.

Just wanted to update the thread. Thanks to all who replied. Picked up some good info.

Sold the Big Tex Sunday and went down yesterday to get the Reiser 10k.

Much happier. rear dove tail rides higher so I won't be scraping every time there is an angle, and the spring assist ramps will make loading and unloading easier.
