Just the last couple of days the hydraulics on the boom and bucket have become slow and shudder. There is also a noise like something is uinder pressure or strain in the guts. 3pt. is also slow and will kill the motor when lifted to the max. No water in system, has never run low on fluid, no leaks so what the heck??? Any and all suggestions gratefully received. Thanks, James.

Step one is always question the age of the screen, filters and fluid. If the answer to any of them is "I don't know", bite the bullet and start new

Thanks for the response,

As far as I am aware there is no filter in the hyd. system in this tractor, only a very coarse screen in the bottom of the transmission. Fluid was changed 15 months ago = about 800 hrs.

At 800 hours, or 800 hours ago?? or,, how many hours since the change?

Check that screen again,,, a little moisture, or other situations can cause that screen to clog.

Personally, the only time I have had a shutter in a tractors hydraulics,,,
the fluid was low,,,

What oil was installed when you changed it?

Did you clean or replace the screen?

Well guys I took your advice and drained the fluid which was not at all milky, it was clean, but when I pulled the screen out it was not covered in the black slime you might normally expect, it was covered in a semi clear honey colored "jello". I have no idea what it was or what caused it but after cleaning it off and re-filling with fresh fluid everything is OK. Does anyone have any idea what might have caused the fluid to change to "jello"???

That seems to be very typical for these machines if parked outside,,, or in very humid conditions.
Maybe it is the way hydraulic oil will absorb and hold water?

Mine is always parked inside,,, except when being used.

Am I spoiling the old machine?? :confused2:

You could at least touch up the paint chips on the ROP bar.:)

Does this seat hide the chips in the ROPS bar??

I installed it the day before yesterday,,,

(NOTE: DO NOT use this seat unless your pants inseam is 34" or more,,, the seat is HIGH!!)

I am tall,, and the seat is perfect for me.

You can always tell a quality tractor seat if its got a BCVC*.
