Yes, there are a lot out there that seem to think if you have 500 rounds of of each caliber and keep a few calipers then you are some sort of maniac. Usually when I go shoot though I easily use a few hundred rounds and that's if I'm by myself. If my wife comes too the numbers increase quick and that "big stockpile" disappears quick.

The wife and I used to shoot between 500 and 1000 about every week. It goes really quick.

Gone are the days when you could walk into a gun store or sports shop and walk to the gun dept. and find 22s in stock. Now we live in Obama world! Where the govt.buys up all the popular rounds. And don't forget the peppers who buy pallets of 22 for when this county inplods.

What I see in our local stores is shelves crammed with every round imaginable except .22LR and .22 magnums. Everything else is available. There's no evidence the government is buying up all the popular rounds.

What there is evidence of is people panicked when the president got elected and started hording rounds (and guns) to the point that the shelves were bare. The people caused the shortage, not the president. The current .22 shortage is because its a difficult round to make, no one wants to spend millions to amp up production on a product that makes pennies in profit. Why spend millions on machinery to flood the market with a product that is selling itself faster than you can make it? They can't use rimfire manufacturing machinery to make other rounds once the demand for it goes down. If the demand goes down, the machinery sits idle. Idle machinery doesn't make money. Its just that simple.

It was a standard contract that was well explained. And one round, 9mm, does not equal "all the popular rounds".
