^^^Needed a bigger car...

I needed to pick up some 8' fluorescent lights, fence posts and two 32 gallon rubbermaid trash cans for the shop and went to the Lowes in Lacey Washington.

The clerk offered to take the items to my truck... but I was driving a car.

No problem... everything fit inside with room to spare... 1967 Cadillac Fleetwood...

That one got my attention. I've got an S2000 that looks exactly like that one . . . minus the box of course.

Yes... got to do it... it is the only car I have in Olympia.

But I use moving quilts to protect... the trunk is cavernous.

My boss from years back bought it new... it was the only car he drove from 1967 to 2010 and it has been to all lower 48 States.

One day I get a call at work and it is his wife... she said Doug can no longer drive and he can't bear to sell his car... he wants to give it to me.

I worked for him two summers back in the 1980's... and helped a few times over the years with minor repairs like a door lock and power window switch.

So the car had not been on the road much for a couple of years... checked all the fluids and drove it 800 miles from Oakland CA to Olympia Washington...

I took that picture on the day he gave it to me... he kept it next to his hospital bed... nothing tickled him more than me driving it to Washington where he was originally from... a lot of people were telling him to get rid of it and he had the chance to tell them it just drove 12 hours to Washington... and would expect nothing less from a Cadillac...

Olympia is the only place I have to keep it inside and secure.

Great guy and always had something nice to say... guess this is why he was the top Olympia Office Machine sales nationwide a few years...

Born in Tacoma to parents from Norway and the Navy brought him to Alameda Naval Air Station where he met his bride who was also Navy... retired a Lt Commander and started a second career in office equipment... he did procurement for the Navy.

Car still has the metal plate on the Dash from Cadillac saying this car was built for them with the logo.

Normally I can drive to Olympia and back to Oakland filling up twice... both times in Roseburg at 15 gallons each time.

With the 425 ci Cadillac I stopped three times for fuel on the way up... didn't check mpg but I doubt is was a third of the 33 mpg my car gets... so maybe 9 or 10 mpg???

My renters are vacating end of the month and had planned to reconnect with the property... but, it looks like it is already rented...

It must be one heck of a market because I remember in 2009 it was vacant for 3 months.

Would love to get either the BX23 or the Deere 110 to Washington but I don't have anything to tow the 110 and the BX would need to come back... sure do miss not having a TLB when I'm there.

I always get comments when I drive the Fleetwood... it is either the car and California plates or the Military decal on the front bumper...

I drove it somewhere and was saluted at the gate... I guess they are suppose to be removed but it is part of the cars history.
