Kioti ECU software update notice?

I'm a dealer and the letter i got told me that in cold weather or high altitudes there could be some smoke issues or something like that. I live in FL with no altitude or cold weather and they told me i had to do the update anyway to all tractors no matter what. They pay for me to travel which is good and pay a little bit for me to do the update. I just hope i don't have to do this 15 different times for the rest of my life when I sell a tractor.

I received the same notice two weeks ago. My letter stated that I had to bring the tractor to the dealer to get it performed. My dealer is over an hour away so there was no way I was going to load it on the trailer for a simple software update. Last Thursday, I received a call from the dealer and they said they wanted to send a man down the next morning to do the update. I inquired to why it was needed and the service manager explained "possible smoke during a cold weather start/warm up" so it is indeed a fuel mapping issue. Apparently Kioti really wants this done for some reason, as they came to me to perform the service (which is not what my letter stated).

Makes me wonder if too much fuel on cold starts would actually hurt/damage the lifespan of the DPF and therefore cause them more cost further down the road?

Either way, I am happy. Kioti did what they had to do and I was not inconvenienced by the whole ordeal.

I'm certain that Kioti is adjusting the fuel mapping because with the stock 160 degree thermostat the engine never warms up in cold operation under light loads. I popped in a thermostat that begins opening only when the engine has warmed up in order to save the DPF as I was needing to regenerate the DPF every 8-12 hours prior to the T-stat swap and frequently the engine was running with reduced power without ever flagging a regeneration cycle because the engine wasn't getting warm enough to trigger a regeneration cycle.

My local service manager hasn't found out exactly what the update does as of the last time I spoke to him, but we both presumed it was a full map change.

I posted a picture of the dealer's letter stating the reasoning for the ecu update. It was to deal with cold starting at a certain elevation. Probably affected very few people.

Had my update done last week...no issues after running it hard for two days :thumbsup:

Mine didn't have this update done, when i had the smoking issue, they supposedly did some different computer flash. Picking it up now so guess see if all goes fine.

Well used the tractor a couple times now, and not sure if it's just me or not, but seems to warm up a bit quicker now.

I'll contact my my closest dealer and ask about the flash update then since they are now working in my area in the field.
