Um, Steel.....
Not unless it's stainless steel or TIG. For regular steel you want CO2 or a mix of CO2 and argon. Most gas suppliers have a proprietary blend of CO2 and argon shielding gas.

Don't argue with him he welded alittle a decade ago and is clearly an expert. Not unless it's stainless steel or TIG. For regular steel you want CO2 or a mix of CO2 and argon. Most gas suppliers have a proprietary blend of CO2 and argon shielding gas.

Trust me I'm not sensitive I only attempted to save you some heartache from attempting to weld using the improper shield gas but you seemed to know better. I rarely reply to stuff like this because everyone is an "internet expert" and it gets super tiring to me.I'm far from an expert. Never claimed to be. I have very little experience compared to most here. No need to be so sensitive.

What's exactly has my time on this board got to do with my life experience? For the most part this board has many, many good respectful people. You come in here a couple of months ago and wanna puff your chest.

Possibly but I doubt it which is why I just won't waste my time, it's just not worth this whole ordeal everytime.Hopefully with time you will become better at giving advice on-line. While in person most people can tell the difference between an honest question like "what are you going to mig weld with argon" and a snarky question like "what are you going to mig weld with argon" but when it's just text it's easy for two different people to read the same set of words in two very different tones.
