Buttercup infestation in wheat and oats

As the title says, I've got a buttercup infestation in some of my oats and a bit of my wheat. Both have grain growing really well on them and are about a month from harvest.

Really dark green goes quickly to a light green where the buttercups are really thick at, and it's really starting to effect my crop. I wish I would have caught it sooner, but I didn't. It is going to be used for grain, hay, and and straw for hogs and other livestock I have.

Is there anything I can use this late in the process that won't negatively effect the grain for consumption?

Maybe a wiper bu you will destroy your crop where your tires run. Bummer. Just keep in mind if they go to seed and then you harvest, you just spread the buttercup to wherever you feed the grain.

Is it too late to spray it out? Probably not possible to mechanically control.

This will control it but if wheat has already jointed it will damage the crop. By the sounds you're flagleaf or later. Check label for Pre-Harvest Interval.

This will also work on buttercups. But same problem apply before jointing.

Sounds like you might be out of luck this year. Remember problem spots and scout early next year. Buttercup seed should be small enough that you won't get a lot of crop contamination. Will still have some, but combine should help separate.

It does sound like I'm way to late then. I appreciate the input from everyone, hopefully my yield isn't effected too much. Hopefully next year I'll be able to catch it sooner.

I used 2,4-D on buttercup problem areas of my pasture when I lived in KY. It worked pretty well.

What growth stage are you at?

An extra application of nitrogen on those spots might pay. Without seeing it I can't say for sure but with it being a lighter color it could be nitrogen deficient. That might be enough to save your yields. Also will depend on how much of the field is effected.

I'm kinda new to growing grain on this scale, so I'm not too familiar with the names of all the stages. Looking online, it looks as if I'm beyond Feekes stage 10. Most has seed on the heads already. I applied nitrogen at 120 units per acre in mud February or so.
