Is a 5 foot bush hog to much for a B2650?

I went with 4' because I use in a smaller area. Isn't rule of thumb 5hp per foot?

It is-but you mentioned my favorite 4 letter word-free! Just realize that you may have to slow, or take partial passes. I borrow my brother's 5' roto-tiller and use it on B2620. I just have to go slow and watch the temp gauge.

I run a 48" Woods with my 2650. You wont have any trouble running a 5 footer.
A five foot bush hog would speed things up a lot. :dance1:

a win/win situation for you. for the price, betcha already knew the answer before you posted. find a safe & effective way of removing the blades for sharpening, & as mentioned, take your time & gear down. also, careful on slopes given your size tractor. best regards

Here is my advice on how to get more oomph. So that it for what its worth LOL. Make sure angle it so the mower is doing all the cutting on the front. See that the mower is lower on the front and higher on the back. Mow a little slower. Mow a little higher. Sharpen your blades some IF your only mowing weeds and grass. Change out the mower's gearbox oil to a lighter synthetic. Use a synthetic oil in your engine. Use super UDT2 in your trans. Use front weights. If your tractor is light on the front end take off the top link and run the mower simi mount style. Keep that radiator clean. I use water to wash it out. Dirt hides in it and makes it not work as well.

not sure i'd recommend this practice, & could get you in trouble if you hang up on something. otherwise what you suggest makes sense. careful on lighter gearbox oils on an older gearbox. good luck to the OP

Many on the forums live by the 5HP / ft rule, and it probably is a good rule of thumb to follow, but after getting a 5' KK bush hog and mowing 2 acre pasture twice with it I am so glad I did not get a 48" cutter. Probably a 54" cutter is best suited for our size tractors but I figured I could easily take a little less cut, but there is no need for it, my B2620 had plenty of HP for full cuts though I did not get into 4' tall green full growth and doubt I ever will.
even with a 5' wide cutter it takes some time to mow a few acres at a decent speed. get the 5'er if it's free that's even better....

It was my dads bush hog i think it is a rhino. He had a B7800.

you scored an excellent b/h being rhino. have an 8' twin spindle of the same make. again, gearing down, keeping the rpm at close to 540 pto speed, and maintaining sharp blades will really help. congrat
